Ahah this episode is definetly better the second time ^^ and yes one of Grisha's friends who became a titan (the one with the beard) is the one who ate Eren in season 1 ! Also Zieke as the same haircut and glasses as Grisha and when he speaked to Eren they showed an image of their father hinting about it. That's what i like with this show is that evrything was foreshadowed

There are a lot of great episodes, but after having questions for so long and wondering if it will all pay off, this showed that the story of AoT is next level. It's just bombshell after bombshell. It's so crazy with the reveals. 2 more to go this season, woohoo!

It's insane! I'd watched Season 1 literally 50+ times during the 4 year gap to Season 2 yet after watching this season I'm left shocked at how different the next rewatch of Season 1 and 2 was. Trust me man go rewatch both seasons after finishing this season.

To answer some of your questions : Basically outside that Island where Eldians lived for a century, there's a whole world ( It's like they are in Australia and they don't know the rest of the world. ) A little bit less than 2000 years, Ymir (which is NOT our Ymir of course ) gained the power of the founding titan with which the Eldian Empire was formed. The ruled the whole world for a LOT of time and cleansed all other civilizations; Until one day, the Marleyan Empire ( One of MANY other countries ) found a way to get 7 of the 9 titans and fought Eldians. The king of that time, King Fritz, escaped the main continent with some Eldians, leaving behind some other Eldians, and went to that little island called paradis, where he used the power of the Founding titan to build the walls, then erased the memories of all his population. He wanted to avoid more war and made a vow to never leave that island and attack the world again. ( season 3 part 1 explanation about the Reiss Family ). Basically the royal family was divided : Fritz stayed on the main continent and Reiss went to Paradis ( Basically, Dina Fritz aka the smiling titan, is a relative to Historia). Marley then created the internment zone where they caged all Eldians ( it's like concentration camps) and since the King Fritz that fled warned them he would activate all the colossal titans in the wall to trumble the world in case they interfere with that Island, Marley simply stayed put and only created titans as punishment for Eldians who would show signs of resistance in these internment zones. At some point ( in the period of this episode ), Marley understood the other countries are advancing too fast (tanks, airplanes, modern weapons etc), so they had to find the necessary fossils and energy to continue its own development, which they could find in Paradis island. The only problem is, they can't attack that island unless they get control of the founding titan, otherwise again : the titans in the walls would be activated against them. So they formed a military branch consisting of Eldians ( since they are the only ones who can transform to titans / intelligent titans. ) and give these warriors the title of "honorary marleyans ". Warriors like Zeke, Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt etc. THEN, you have the rest of the story (episode 1). What happened between my summary and episode 1, will be explained afterwards.

the Ymir (we know) was from beond the walls got injected and turned in on the same wall, was roming for 60 years as a mindless titan before she ate one of Rainer friend and got turned back to an human, + she was chosen random for a coult on the street (no royal blod or anything importans aka not the first ever titan)

OMG, it's been too long since I watched your AoT reactions. Just caught up on everything from No Regrets onwards - it's been an emotional day, my god! When I first watched That Day, I had to pause and rewind numerous times to take everything in - it's a mind fuck, haha!

If I said that, the--" -Also Ymir, 2x09 Now we know who the "real enemy" is that Eren wanted to know back in S2. It was the world all along! And Ymir was right. Even if Eren killed Reiner and Bertholdt, he'd be gravely mistaken that everything will finally come to an end. It would not fix the world's perception of their race. The world hates them and sees them as monsters. They were the "evil monsters" that the world wanted to save humanity from... This was the reality that people like Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie, and Ymir had to face. If it was anything like what happened to Grisha and Fay, then it was indeed a cruel world they were living in. Bertholdt's inner monologue during "Descent" has so much weight now...
