In case there is someone who doesn't want to mess with electronics and is worried about damaged hardware, I have another solution for you :)

You might find this familiar , as I first introduced the budget screen version back on the Baylan Skoll vambraces.

The budget screen is a lenticular print that's basically made of 2 images, so when you move the "screen" up/down the images change.

That created an illusion that you have a functional screen while at the same time you don't have to worry about installing electronics or anything breaking. It is also very crisp and i myself got confused by this so many time, thinking that i have left my pip boy screen on, while instead it was the one with the lenticular print :D crazy :D  Not only that but it's quite affordable and super easy to work with.

These are Made by Markus von Renthe-Fink, and his work is really fantastic!!!  so feel free to reach out to him if you wish to order these screens, or you can check his FB page - he can create other stuff as well :) The screen is scaled for my pip boy of course , you just might have to trim a tiny bit of edge for a perfect fit which is no problem as you can just trim it away with scissors.

Fantastic solution! I spent $80 on all of the electronics for a prop that sits on my shelf. Love the ingenuity!
