Got some fun new story ideas for the next CYOA!

But I also wanted to discuss something for a potential and major change to the CYOA comics thing we have going on here.

After the response to the second CYOA story, which ended up becoming a tie-in to the first Newlyweds story, I've been contemplating shifting towards a  more narrative-driven comic series; Possibly even removing the CYOA concept altogether, or minimizing it to only have a small influence on the story.

This new comic series would be a LONG running tale that would be updated intermittently. With less of a focus on condensing an entire chapter to a single page (as I did with the college story), I could allow myself myself to focus on building upon the narrative with smoother pacing. The goal would be a webcomic with some CYOA influence, or just simply abandon the CYOA entirely and go full webcomic. I'm on the fence about this because I know many patrons enjoy taking part in these creations, and I enjoy it greatly as well! I wouldn't want to deprive fans and patrons of the opportunity to take part in the creation process.

Due to the nature of putting out more pages with a steadier pacing, and with more regularity like a normal webcomic, the visual quality would be reduced to compensate with the new increased workload. I would still aim for a deliberate "finished" look. Possibly something in black and white with some grayscale (think InCase's "Alfie"), or just simple cel shading. basically it'd be much simpler than my usual paintings, but still look finished.

As for story, that's still way up in the air for me. I have a few personal story ideas that have interested me for a long running series like this, but these latest CYOA ideas are also intriguing too and could be expanded into a longer series.

So that's all I have to say about that. Leave comments below if you are interested in me pursuing this concept, or if you have ideas of your own.

thank you!

I think it's interesting you mention this. I've enjoyed the premise and direction you give these CYOAs thus far (the latest one especially), but as we near the end of another I'm left feeling like another story is concluding with a bunch of untapped and unexplored potential. It's like when a great series you are enjoying leaves a bunch of cliff hangar plot points unresolved in the season finale, and then doesn't get renewed for season two. To that end, I'd love to see you do something quicker, but more in-depth and expository. I've seen you use a faster / looser style for things like request raffles which I think would probably serve you well in this case. While hyper-accurate proportions, meticulously detailed shadowing and incredibly fine gradients all make your art look amazing, I can't help but think that a good portion of it could be left out without drastically lowering the enjoyment everyone gets from it. There have been at least a dozen times now when you've been streaming a piece on Picarto that someone will pop into the stream, and go "Wow, this looks amazing, it's pretty much done right?" While the finished pieces always look great in these cases, I think this is a testament to the fact that at least some of your fan base (myself included) often find these rougher drafts to be plenty well detailed enough to call "done." Another idea I think could be interesting would be grey-scale like you mentioned, with the occasional splash of color in places like eyes, lips, and items of significance to the plot. It might be a bit cliche, but i think it really added more visual depth in more mainstream usages like Sin City, and could potentially be used to great effect in a project like this. In the end, while I personally would love to see the results of a faster / looser styled piece, I'm sure whatever you end up doing will be top notch as always.
