My sister (Nathalie) and her fiancé (Lucas) arrived Friday night. Since that was the beginning of my 1-week vacation (I rarely take time off work, and never for very long at a time), I've been dreading this for weeks, especially since I wasn't sure the faeries would let me return to my normal self. Fortunately, they stopped re-casting the curse that turned me into a woman three weeks ago. (I wasn't sure that would be enough time, but Attitude explained there's still some faerie essence in me, so spells don't last as long on me as they do on other humans.)

It's probably worth pointing out that even though Nathalie (a professional nurse) is two years older than me, she's so naive and sweet that I've become a very protective "big brother" around her. It took me some time getting used to Lucas, who's an introspective mechanical engineer. He's fairly handsome, but quiet and brooding. He and my sister have been together for two years, and up to this morning, I was very suspicious of him. Maybe I still am...

Yesterday, we took a day-trip to a neighbouring town on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. It went really well. The weather was fantastic—sunny and hella hot! There were tons of people in the streets, with countless terraces that served local beer and tasty poutine (well, this is Quebec after all). Nathalie was her usual chatty self in the beginning, but as the day progressed, she gradually became more quiet and distracted. She kept glancing at Lucas, and for a while, I thought maybe he'd done something to upset her. I caught her trying to hold his hand, but he pushed it away. Later, returning from a bathroom break, I saw her trying to kiss him, but again he pushed her away.

We still had a good time, but I quickly realized what was really going on: my sister had a serious case of the hornies, and that left me pretty queasy. It's my sister, I don't like to think of her having sex. It's also upsetting when I suspect the cause of that desire is one of my faeries. They had promised, but it wouldn't be the first time a faerie lied to me.

The ride back was even more awkward. My sister had fallen into a deep silence. I sat in the back seat making polite conversation until she asked to trade places with me. "You and Lucas can chat, I'm sleepy," she said. (I knew better, but I agreed—what else was I gonna say).

When we got back to my place (around 8:30 PM), she said she was really tired and retired to the guest bedroom. She insisted Lucas joins her and they both disappeared for the rest of the night. As soon as they were out of the way, the faeries returned to the living room to hang out with each other. I asked them if they'd done anything to my sister, but they shrugged and ignored me.

This morning, Lucas showed up by himself. I was already up and having some coffee. I offered I'm some, which he gratefully accepted.

"Sorry about last night," he said while staring at the black liquid in his mug.

"Hey, it's no worry, Nath gets tired like that sometimes."

"Does she?" he asked, seemingly unconvinced. He looked up at me. "Listen, if we're going to be family, we have to be honest with one another, right?"

It's hard reading Lucas under normal circumstances, and I was distracted by a wave of guilt. For one thing, I felt indirectly responsible for Nathalie's horniness. I also felt bad because once again, I was about to lie about my secret, faerie-filled life.

"Sure," I said hesitantly. "Honesty is important. It's the foundation for a good relationship, like you and Nath have."

He waved that away and sipped his coffee. "Okay, so let me level with you," he said. "Yesterday, you probably noticed something was wrong with Nathalie, right?"

Uh oh... Where was this going? I just nodded and let him continue.

"Well, I have to confess it was...my fault."

Wait, what?

"Jaycee, this is gonna sound crazy, but you're going to be my brother-in-law, and I have to level with you. Have you ever heard of...faeries?"

But before I could answer, I heard Nathalie coming up the stairs. Lucas looked at me in alarm and made a sign to stay silent. I nodded and we left it at that.

We spent the day all together, so there was no time for us to talk. Today was much like yesterday, with Nathalie starting off "normal" and ending up horny as hell. As I'm writing this, they're both "napping" (shyeah, right!)  before we go out for dinner. I hope to have some time with Lucas to find out more about what he meant.
