Part one of the Dapple Grey - I loved drawing this piece. It's on pastelmat board, and you can see in the video how grainy it can look when zoomed in and close up - but don't forget no one sees it like that in real life - grain is part of pastelmat - so try to embrace it :) 

I'm attaching the ref, line art and materials list below

I've drawn my initial outline with a Polychromos Warm Grey 2 

It's on 35x50cm pastelmat board, the horse measures 30cm from tip of ears to the bottom of the rein.

You will need a kneadable eraser - a soft one like the Faber Castell.

Is it okay to try this in pastel pencils on the pastelmat?

of course :) I would work with the same techniques, when it comes to the dapples if you have pan pastels use those :)
