NSFW images below! I briefly mentioned in the post for version 0.29, but the artist that used to work on the rendered image pack for the game recently expressed an interest in coming back and working on the game again. They’ve been working on creating the paperdoll system in a rendered style, so I’m here to show two examples of that, and make a poll to ask your opinion on me commissioning from them again. The only reason I could think of to not commission from them is that the funds used for that could be diverted towards more drawn art instead, but the rendered artists prices are a lot lower comparatively, so this probably wouldn’t slow things much, if at all.

I prefer the drawling, but renders would not be unwelcome.

Im sure the render artist does a wonderful job, but in my humble opinion the tone is off compared to everything youve done until now. On a personal note, Ive never cared for render art when it comes to non-human characters. You would also have to have every scene redone to keep the consistency throughout the game. Just my thoughts, though.

This would be an optional image pack as an alternative to the drawn one, so you wouldn't see the two styles mixed. I would have to redo old scenes in this style, but the cost of doing so is pretty minor thanks to the artists cheap rates, and since I have a completed drawing as a reference, it will require much less oversight on how I want things to look. Good to hear your thoughts on this, thanks!

I don't think we need a rendered version. Firstly i see rendered paperdoll as something would work well in a Unity or HTML game. But with the game being reworked for RPGM, the dissonance in menu style and the ingame graphics looks in comparison to rendered art is just too noticable. Besides if you concentrate on the anime pack you will be able to make alt art pieces for those who play a more dominant MC.

I'm not sure I understood the pool correctly since commissioning the art and using it in the game are two different things. I think the art is good so if you have some other project it would be worth commissioning it but it doesn't fit the the game style since everything else is in a different style. You would have to redo the NPCs and the monsters and the backgrounds also don't fit well with 3D rendered art in my opinion.

I can't ever see myself using the rendered artwork, but objectively I don't see anything wrong with the examples shown. I shall abstain from voting, but I will say I wish there was a third option of, "postpone" instead. I think the artist in this case does fine work, I'd just rather focus be on drawn stuff first and rendered stuff as a stretch goal.

I much prefer the drawn art to 3d renders.

I agree that the drawn style meshes with RPG Maker better, but this really won’t slow down drawn commissions a noticeable degree, so this isn’t a question of doing rendered artwork OR do alt pieces for dominant PC’s. They only charge $5-10 for commissions, depending on complexity, so I should be able to commission them in addition to the drawn artists without any issues. I am curious though, what did you mean when you mentioned alt artwork for dominant PC’s? Do you mean alternate versions of existing artwork, or just doing artwork of the players dominant scenes? Thanks for your feedback.

I would be commissioning the artwork and using it in a separate rendered image pack for the game. If you prefer the drawn images, you can just continue to play with that image pack, and you won’t encounter the rendered images in game. It’s just a question of if it’s worth doing for some players. It also lets me experiment a bit more with character design, as tweaking rendered artwork is a lot easier than tweaking drawn stuff. Then I can use finished rendered artwork as a visual reference of what I want from drawn artists as well.

Because the artist only charges $5-10 per commission, depending on complexity, this won't really take away any focus on drawn artwork. I’m still going to look for an additional drawn artist (in addition to the one recently added), so the main thing limiting more drawn art right now is the fact that the artists also need to sleep, lol. Thank you for your feedback though, it's good to have an idea of how many people would use the rendered images.

Usually the scenes where PC is in a dominant position during sex, PC ends up being in a completely other sexual position. A good example of that is Dungeon 3 and the two paths you can take by making your outfit choice. Yes you can go through the dungeon stomping or subbing to everyone in both of those. But its obvios from the beginning of the dungeon, that each of them is intended for their own way to play the game. Also why i can reply to my og post but not your reply? Was it always like that with Patreon?

Brahmanaum

would rather the money be saved for more drawn art

CrossdressinginCamelot

I'm not sure about the reply thing. I can select to reply to you directly, but it doesn't actually look like a continued reply. Looks like I'm replying to my own comment. As for alt art pieces for dominant pc's, my plan going forward is to commission scenes for characters in groups. So for the third dungeon, if I'm commissioning scenes for the Dryad enemy, I would do all of the dominant and submissive scenes at roughly the same time.

The current hold up with drawn artwork is a lack of artists, not funds. At one point there were three artists working on the game, but two of them lost interest, and the third hasn’t messaged me in over two months. I’ve still been saving up funds for artwork in the meantime though, so having to choose between more rendered art and more drawn art isn’t really a concern. I have found a new drawn artist who will hopefully be able to do commissions for the game regularly, and I’m hoping to find a second one soon as well. But yeah, it’s less a question of “more drawn art or rendered art” and more a question of “rendered art or no rendered art.”

Might be the end for Iyuerriey...

I prefer the drawn art, even if it might take longer in total to get art that is drawn. I just feel like it's more fitting to RPGM games, renders suit Ren'py better imo.

I personally find most renders to hit the Uncanny valley for me and they're a significant turn-off. That's my opinion, but yeah.
