Since my last post, I’ve been working on moving the game over into RPG Maker MV, and it’s been going fairly well. I originally predicted I would be finished around February 10th, but I think it will likely take a bit longer than that now. So far, I’ve basically completed recreating the content for Beatrice, the Barkeep, the Lizardmen, and the first dungeon. I’ve got about half of the guild stuff done as well. That leaves the Elves, Alraune, Goblin and Ogre, Skirts and More, the Church, and the second dungeon. It’s a bit tricky to predict how long things will take, both because I get faster as I learn RPG Maker, and because some things like adding in new items can take a bit to figure out.

I’ve been keeping things pretty basic for the most part as they are moved over, locations like the Sorcerer’s Cauldron and the bar will probably be pretty basic, and the events won’t actually involve characters moving around or anything like that, as I want to get everything functional in RPG Maker before I add that kind of extra work. The dungeons will be much more detailed, as I think having plain dungeons is a lot harder to overlook. Depending on how much time I have, I also hope to semi-rework the first couple of quests so that they are more like the first Lizardman quest is in the demo, a somewhat smaller area to explore instead of a series of text that displays options you can take.

My current plan is to release a version 0.10 sometime in February, so I will be charging for the next month. I’m calling it version 0.10 because I do plan to add some extra content into it, it won’t solely be a conversion to the new engine, but the amount of new content will be smaller than past updates. I generally want to avoid charging when I’m not adding new content (or not adding enough new content), but I’ve still been working consistently on this, so I will be charging this time. This post is basically just a heads up on the matter, if you don’t want to pay for an update that is mostly just a transition to a new engine, you may wish to cancel your pledge for the month and wait for the next full update.

I'm not clear on how rpg maker versions would work with Linux (which is what I run). Would you just need to export a Linux version? I've read that RPG Maker MV can do this. Does it need external libraries that can be a nightmare to track down and install (depending on what distro you run)? Or is it interpretive, and I need to find a working version of rpgmaker? I've really enjoyed playing this game, and would hate to have to give it up.

I am able to export the game into a Linux version, and I believe it is fairly simple to run, but I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done to get it to work. There is a Linux version of the demo posted at the bottom of the (very long) post before this, which you could try out to see if it works. I know someone got it to work other than a bug with one of the images being improperly named, but I can't say for sure how they did it. Generally you just need the RPG Maker MV rtp and the game itself to run these games. I also managed to expore the game as an HTML5 file which worked, which I assume could run on Linux since it is run through a browser. I could also upload that if you wanted to try it.

I think you should have charged for January since you are still working on the game. Otherwise, thanks for the news on the update.

How goes it? Also +1 for a Linux version as that's what I run as well.

Things have been going well, I’ve got the game very near playable, might spend a bit of extra time on visuals and quality of life things, I’d rather take a bit longer to make sure it’s enjoyable. I was a bit delayed by how long it took me to set up a skill tree, surprisingly difficult to do in RPG Maker, especially the way I wanted to set it up. Skipping some non-essential content for the first update, and will add that in later. (The church for example, as it doesn’t lead into anything else in game right now.) Currently, my priorities are finishing the main essential content, adding in the new content I’ve started working on (which will be an extra location in the first dungeon, letting you explore the slime pits further,) and getting things to look nice. May or may not have to push back into early March for the update, but I’m pausing payments for next month, so anyone who was pledged this month won’t be charged twice for one update.

Ciao. I want to support the game, but now I can no longer translate it with RPG Maker. I am Italian and HTML I could translate them.

CrossdressinginCamelot

Sorry to hear that, I believe there are ways to have text from games auto translated, but I've never done that and haven't been able to find how to do it unfortunately. If I find what I'm looking for I will let you know.
