--

Aizawa sat, papers piled up around him in the dimly lit room, reading over his students work and marking the answers as he went. The TV in front of him was barely audible as it cast shifting light over the cluttered coffee table, functioning more as white noise than actual entertainment. The lamp propped up on the table beside him provided the rest of the rooms light source as he continued to work even if the sun had set hours ago.

He paused for a moment to shut his eyes and breathe through his nose as an aching pain rolled down his spine and made him frown even more, but it passed by quickly enough that he continued to work, picking up another students paper and reading through it lazily.

A sudden banging on the door startled him before he groaned in realisation, he knew only one person that knocked on doors with such enthusiasm.

He heaved himself up from his seated position, finding his balance first before trudging over to the door in his slippers. With a sigh he tugged it open, immediately being met with Hizashi’s bright grin.

“Aizawa! You’re up late!” Hizashi spoke in what he considered his inside voice, before letting himself in.

“If it’s so late then why are you coming over banging on my door? you have keys…” Aizawa sighed before returning to his seat on the couch.

“Because I knew you’d be up late, obviously,” Hizashi said as he followed Aizawa over to the couch, sweeping up some of the papers there and moving them before sitting down. “Didn’t think you’d still be working, are you behind or something?”

“Just restless,” Aizawa shrugged, taking up the papers again. “Thought working would at least distract me.”

“You need to learn how to relax, dude. You’ve only got so long left before you’ll be changing diapers nonstop,” Hizashi teased, eyeing off the heavy curve of Aizawa’s stomach.

“Then go be useful and make me some tea. Something mild, no milk,” Aizawa said without looking up from his work.

To his surprise, Hizashi actually got up without complaining, talking his way over to the kitchen and as he boiled the kettle, detailing his day and its events without pause. Aizawa only heard about half of what he said anyway, the pain this time is strong enough that he has to breathe through it with a painfully tight grip on the couch’s armrest. It passes soon enough, and he regained his breath by the time Hizashi returns with two warm mugs that he carefully finds spots for on the table.

“C’mon, Aizawa, why don’t you put the work down for tonight and kick back, it can wait another day,” Hizashi says, sounding genuinely concerned as he watches Aizawa fold into himself with a sigh. He finally yields, dropping the pen and paper onto the table to replace them with a mug.

“Fine. I’ll take a break, for now,” Aizawa said, leaning back into the couch.

Hizashi’s face pulled into a crooked grin, “Good, now tell me how the future hero-to-be is doing today. Dancing on your bladder still, or have they moved on to better punching bags?”

Aizawa groaned as his hand rested high on his belly, “kids dropped even lower, and they’re far too heavy to be tossing and turning like they do. I feel like my back’s gunna break just from the strain of it.”

“Need me to give you a back rub?” Hizashi asked, taking a sip from his cup.

Aizawa paused for a moment to consider it before shifting forward with a shrug, “sure, I’m in enough pain to accept that.”

Hizashi let out a chuckle before putting his mug down and beginning to press his thumbs into Aizawa’s lower back. “Tell me where you need it most,” He said before rolling his hands up his back, making Aizawa groan.

“Lower back, definitely lower,” he hissed, turning and leaning into his lap more to let Hizashi work.

He relaxed as much as he could while Hizashi kneaded at the tight knots in his back and tried to ease some of the tension there, and he cannot deny that it helps considerably. Especially when he suddenly feels another pain make him seize up, sharp hiss catching him off guard as his stomach radiates in pain. He begins groaning before he can stop himself as one of his hands press against the side of his belly hard.

He only noticed when the pain had passed when Hizashi’s hands were no longer on his back but instead wound around his bicep in an iron grip as he repeated Aizawa’s name over and over until he looked at him.

“What the fuck was that?” Hizashi blurted out, wide eyed in shock.

Aizawa was still struggling to catch his breath, but shrugged anyway, “probably another contraction.”

“Probably!? Another?!” Hizashi practically screeched, “Aizawa, don’t tell me you’ve been sitting here in the dark grading papers while you’ve been in labor!”

Aizawa continued to stare at Hizashi, deadpanned expression as he says nothing.

“Aizawa! Why didn’t you go to a hospital? The infirmary? Call Recovery Girl?!” Hizashi panicked, too loudly for Aizawa to handle right now.

“What’s the rush, they’ve been coming and going all day, and nothings happened. At this rate I’ll probably be in labor for several more hours.”

Hizashi stared at him, eyebrows raised in shock before finally standing abruptly and pulling Aizawa up alongside him.

“We’re going right now; I can’t even believe this is something I have to explain to a hero!” Hizashi grumbled, beginning to pull Aizawa towards the door before he felt a tug of resistance. He whipped back with an increasingly concerned look on his face, ready to start lecturing Aizawa again before he saw that Aizawa’s eyes are locked onto the seat of the couch he just stood from. Which is currently soaked through.

“You’ve got to be kidding me…” Hizashi groaned.

“I didn’t even notice,” Aizawa said, sounding almost a little impressed with himself.

“Ok, even more reason for us to go now,” Hizashi emphasized, trying once again to pull him towards the door.

Aizawa reluctantly allowed Hizashi to pull him towards the door, stumbling a few steps before tugging him to a halt.

“W-wait, I don’t think I can do it,” Aizawa said through gritted teeth. His knees had folded into themselves and he had a hand pressed deep between his legs as he peered up at Hizashi through messy bangs.

“Not this, Aizawa, I’ll give you the pep talk of your life, but after we get some help, okay?” Hizashi said before he tried making his way to the door again, only for Aizawa to pull back even harder.

“No, I mean I can’t go. I can feel the head, it’s coming out,” Aizawa repeated, staring hard at Hizashi with his hand still firmly clamped between his legs.

“Shit, shit, ok, seriously?” Hizashi panicked, “You’re sure you can’t try?”

“Hizashi!” Aizawa growled, before a sharp pain made him crumple in pain, knees buckling further as he ground his teeth.

“Ok! Uh… Where do you wanna do this?” Hizashi said, looking around frantically for somewhere to get Aizawa comfortable that isn’t his living room floor or entryway.

“Just… Just get me on the bed. Quickly,” Aizawa wheezed out, sweat beginning to drip from his forehead.

Hizashi wasted no time in half-carrying, half-dragging Aizawa to his bedroom before seating him down on the bed and helping him settle in. Aizawa tiredly batted away Hizashi’s anxious adjusting as he sat himself on the edge on the bed and began tugging down his soiled sweatpants.

“I’m calling an ambulance” Hizashi said, tugging his phone from his pocket and dialling instantly. He spoke on the phone hurriedly, giving the operator details and instructions on how to reach them as thoroughly as he could.

Aizawa struggled to get his pants down to his knees, and beyond that was well out of his reach by now, so he settled for trying to shuffle and kick them off with his feet as he forced himself to take deep, even breaths. He could feel the pain coming on again, pooling into his lower back and stomach like lava and making his teeth grind together to bite back the pain.

He only managed to get his pants around his ankles before he was spreading his knees and groaning with the contraction, blindly following his body’s demands without even thinking about it. He slipped a hand between his legs as the pain finally dulled to slide between his lips, and it didn’t take him long to find the soft curve of a head lodged in his birth canal.

“Mic… s’coming,” Aizawa groaned out, slipping his fingers out of his vagina to grip tightly to the edge of the bed.

He watched Hizashi turn to him with wide eyes before hurriedly ending the phone call with a quick, “We’ll manage until then, we’re pro heroes.”

Suddenly Hizashi was on his knees in front of Aizawa, tugging his pants off the rest of the way before gently pushing his legs open a little more. “I can’t see it just yet, are you going to push again?”

“M’yeah,” Aizawa groaned, a new contraction already boiling his insides with pain as his body begun bearing down without him. He quickly put his strength into the push, moaning through tight lips as he felt the head slide slowly down until he couldn’t push any longer.

“Oh! I see it now, that was great!” Hizashi grinned, but his eyebrows were still crooked with fear. “Head’s on its way, keep pushing!”

Aizawa sighed, eyes shut and waiting for the next contractions to begin. The minutes felt like they dragged on for ages before he finally felt the sharp pain and was pushing in moments without hesitation. His fingers dug into the mattress beneath him and his chin pulled in tight to his chest as he pushed and pushed. He could feel his lips part as the baby’s head forced them open, the tight pain growing worse the more he pushed, but he kept going until he finally gave up with a sharp gasp for air.

“It’s coming! That’s it, Aizawa, the head’s on its way!” Hizashi continued to commentate.

Aizawa just continued to ignore his enthusiastic descriptions every time he pushed, and instead worked on doubling down his efforts, pushing harder and longer as much as he could stand to as he felt the baby’s head creep into a crown. The pain was searing and wholly unpleasant, but in Aizawa’s years as a hero, he’d become accustomed to pain, enough that he continued to only grit his teeth and groan through each contraction.

Hizashi was still wildly detailing the baby’s head as it stuck out of him when he finally mustered the strength to push beyond the crown, suddenly feeling the baby’s head pop out with a small gush of fluid. He let his body shake as he breathed through it, feeling Hizashi’s hands working around the baby’s head and between his thighs.

“Head’s clear, no cord, you can keep pushing!’ Hizashi detailed, and Aizawa happily took in the news before he began pushing once more.

Aizawa pushed, feeling the shoulders turn and slowly slide free just as the head did, and it felt like only a few moments later the rest of the body was sliding free into Hizashi’s waiting hands. He could hear Hizashi shout as he caught the baby, but it took all of Aizawa’s strength to not collapse back against the bed. He steadied himself for a moment before he finally looked down at Hizashi holding his pink little crying baby, wriggling in his arms.

He was speechless at the sight of her. So small and soft, dark hair sticking to her wet head as her tiny fists stretched out in front of her and she screamed. Hizashi was putting her in his arms before he could even process that he’d just given birth, and that was his baby. It seemed so foreign that moments ago she was inside, him even if they were still connected, and even stranger that hours ago he felt this moment was an eternity away. Now she was nestled in his arms, face scrunched with unhappy wails as he held her tight to his chest.

He was so transfixed with her that he only noticed Hizashi had left when he returned again, informing him that the ambulance had arrived and were on their way up now. It didn’t take them long after that before Aizawa was being assisted by paramedics to deliver the afterbirth and he and his baby were checked over quickly before being strapped to a gurney and wheeled out of his UA apartment.

The arrival of the ambulance on campus had clearly alerted many of the staff and students because as they exited the building there was a line-up of them flanking Aizawa as he was transported to the ambulance.

His daughter was tucked in with a blanket to his chest, quiet now despite the commotion happening around her, and the large audience they’d picked up were eager to catch glimpses of the two once they realised what had happened. There were many enthusiastically spoken congratulations as Aizawa passed by and accepted them gratefully. Aizawa was just grateful that his daughter was born safely despite her sudden, unplanned arrival, and he’d be grateful for a shower and nap when they were finally safe and sound.
