Content

About 8 years ago while scouring the internet for TG related content, as I do, I discovered a backwater thread on some image board that was similar to the usual suspects but different as I believe it was basically devoted solely to TG and transformation content.

I remember there was a big long discussion of why people like TG related stuff and supposedly there was actually a couple of biological females in there giving there input but most importantly a few guys explaining that they like TG for a reason that I think most of the people reading this might find interesting.

They liked the power play of changing a male into a female, not being the one transformed, they liked the control aspect of it. The idea of taking what  to them is, admittedly a man that they have no sexual attraction to and reforming them into a desirable female shape.

This surprised me because I honestly believed most TG fans were simply people in it because they wanted to be the 'victim', and I use that term loosely.  Now of course I know people all have different reasons to like things so it wasn't like I thought everyone was the same, I just didn't realize there were literal doms in the fetish community that liked it because the sense of power it gave them. There's something fascinating about that to me that a fetish can be enjoyed from so many different perspectives.

Then of course I talked to some biological females that enjoy the fetish because they sort of llke the romantic angle of it-- a former guy turned girl perhaps finding love in their new form, maybe even from a guy friend.

I even met some people who like it because they just find the idea of a female with a male brain to be so incredibly hot, and for a multitude of reasons and rationales, that they can't help but love TG scenarios. This goes into all sorts of crazy directions, be it the tomboy concept of a dude who becomes a chick and then just continues to live as they would before just ya know, with a rockin bod to fill out their nerdy graphic tees and blue jeans, or the aspect that a boy-turned-girl might be kinda crude, vulgar, and maybe even a little trashy. That they'd be a total slut in their new form and take full advantage, or just to have a girl that didn't sweat the same things that normal females sweat, like being topless or burping in public.

Then there are the embarrassment fetishests, who simply just like seeing a girl embarrassed in fetish work so what better way to find a comic full of embarrassing situations then a TG scenario. There's also the role reversal people who like to see body swaps and other similar scenarios.

Oh and never forget the people who just genuinely like to see realistic social ramifications of someone transforming in that manner. The people who like to see stories unfold in which you have a character's entire world be flipped on their head by their body changing, how it impacts their relationships and professions.

All these are just scraping the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the TG 'fandom'. There are so many other ways to enjoy TG than the typical "Man I wish Barnyard Dawg woulda had that horse kick me into the auto closet".

Feel free to give any alternate points of view you have on the subject, I love hearing from you guys. <3

Honestly it kinda bums me out that all these perspectives cause so much division online. It seems like a lot of people just want to see tg coming from and catering to their perspective, and reject anything that comes from somewhere different. It's strange. I know personally I get absolutely nothing from body swap tg content, but I wouldn't begrudge anyone for it. Thing is though, I'd never seek it out, let alone support an artist producing it. It's this hyperspecialization of enjoyment that I think results in less tg content overall. It's depressing to me.

Divisiveness is more of a symptom of the human condition than anything, people would fight over anything given the chance, its in our dna. I more or less like to look at this hobby, this fetish, as an interesting way to get to know others and explore our differences in a constructive way. I think its fascinating that some people want to be the one causing the TG, not the 'victim'. I just think its cool to explore these things. I think its the nature of humans to just assume that difference in perspective should lead to squabbles, but it doesn't have to be that way. Finding common ground is something I try to do. I don't draw body swap, I don't think its all that interesting unless its a body swap that involves one body transforming into another. Overall there are a lot of TG tropes I don't care for, but I like to understand why someone else might enjoy them so I don't fall into that category of people who just outright dismiss it and treat it like its lesser than the things I enjoy.
