Watching this way late (just felt like rewatching Boys Planet for the 100th time). Anyways. I feel like the reason why trainees like Mingyu, Doha, and Takuto are so like-able is the fact they're not afraid to take whatever they're given and just go for it. Like, it's clear they lack training and aren't ready for debut but you can't help but root for them. They don't seem to be intimidated by the people around them and get right back up when they're knocked down. Like you said with Mingyu, it's trainees like them that will progress far and faster because they're willing to put themselves out there 110% and aren't afraid to try anything. And I think that's also why survival shows would bring in "less skilled" trainees on these types of shows because people love a good underdog story and just seeing someone grow on the show.
