So, we spent a couple days road tripping through Florida, and another in Georgia.  Our first stop was the Everglades.  We thought we'd be lucky if we saw an alligator, but our expectations were shattered when we walked around near the visitor's center.  We were increasingly disappointed the further into the park we went, but at least it was exciting at the beginning.

Next stop was Manatee Springs State Park.  There were swimming areas in the vicinity of the alligator, and some of the boaters got close to it.  Then we encountered a cottonmouth which caught a catfish and played with it, waiting for it to die.  Mostly, though we took a hike away from the people...

Last nature trip was a brief one in Okefenokee in Georgia.  We stuck to a visitor's center where the boat launch was infested with alligators.
