New Backup/Restore system is coming! (Patreon)

Wanted to give you all an update on what we are currently working on. With the Valentine's update live and working as intended we've now switched to working on doing a deep dive on our save and backup systems. At the time of this post we feel that League of Maidens has plenty of content for players to enjoy both for longtime players and for new players. With that being the case it gives us an opportunity to really look into our save system to identify any flaws that would need to be addressed and an opportunity to introduce a backup system for players to use.

Our plan is a two pronged approach. The first solution we are working on is a manual backup system that would allow players to backup their save data at any point during their gameplay experience. This backup system would be a manual system that would require a player to initiate a backup which gives players full control over when their data is saved. Before this system, whenever players experience issues with their saves it requires players to submit a bug report which can be very time consuming to review, respond and potentially correct. This new system puts powerful tools in the hands of players to navigate this process without our intervention or wait time. The second part of that system is the ability for players to restore from the backups that have been created. As a whole players will be able to backup their saves from the desktop during their gameplay experience and restore from the start menu if there are any issues that are encountered.

To be clear, this is a backup/restore system that gives players the tools to recover from any potential loss of data. This system is not intended for casual saving. Casual saving is handled automatically by the existing system.

This new system allows players to periodically create backups in case they would like to restore those backups at anytime in the future.

Our next solution comes in the form of taking a deep dive on the automatic save system (the system that saves your progress during your gameplay experience) to identify any potential flaws that need to be addressed. The pace of our development and adding content and features has not affoarded us the time to take this deep dive. Now that we have a moment to do so it will be extremly beneficial for the game and it's players. To date we have already identified some flaws that we will be working to address which should hopefully resolve potential issues for players in the future.

So basically, we just want to communicate that we are taking the time to A) provide players with the tools they need to address backup/restore needs and B) taking a look at addressing potential flaws that would address the root causes of problems with our save system. Taking the time to not only provide tools for players to mitigate issues in the future and addressing the root causes of those failures feels like a win-win for the community.

Above you can find some previews of the UI for the systems coming in the next update. The two systems featured in the photos are the following:

1 - The "Backup System" which can be accessed from the Desktop in game.

2 - The "Restore System" which can be accessed from the Start Menu when the game is launched or by clicking "Sign Out" on the desktop.
