Kunoichi is an Early Access game with massive changes occurring between posted builds. For this reason we WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ENSURE that save files from one build will work with any other build. V1.3a PATCH NOTES LIST!!!  

As with all games especially in EARLY ACCESS there will be bugs. Below we have identified some of the more notable bugs for your convenience. PLEASE BE SURE to read the patch notes and the related KNOWN ISSUES LIST.

Review the build/patch/hotfix list below for a detailed list of resolved issues in the associated build/patch/hotfix.   

1 - Fixed a bug that caused quest giver and vendor icons to show when hiding UI and using Photo Mode.

2 - Fixed a bug that caused the camera focus to be off when talking with quest NPCs.

3 - Weapon durability has been added. The damage dealt by weapons are now affected by the durability percentage of the weapon.

4 - Yuki-Onna stage has been completely revamped.

5 - All consumable items have been replaced with items that are more in-line with the setting. I.E. Rice Balls, Dried Fish, Miso Soup etc...

6 - Starting to implement a new armor/weapon enhancement system...

7 - Re-vamped movement when in combat. Now the players character will face the enemy with strafing movement while in combat. This is more inline with modern third person ARPG controls. This change also makes it much easier to perform dodge rolls.

8 - Bandit Camps and Cave entrances have been added to the Village map.

9 - Returned the ability to call your horse. Now the horse can be used in the village without having to travel on the path.

10 - Made some improvements to the horse riding pose and animations.

11 - Added the ability to repair weapons and gear via Black Smith vendor which is located in the Takeda Market map.

12 - Player character body has been remodeled to improve the breasts, add a fully modeled vagina, anus and improved butt. Bones for breast, butt and vagina have also been added.

13 - 9 New sliders added for breast customization.

14 - 3 New sliders added for butt customization.

15 - Breast and Butt Jiggle Physics have been IMPLEMENTED [WIP]!!! 😄

16 - Increased the speed of drawing the Katana weapon.

17 - Fixed a bug that caused the quest markers to show up on maps where the NPC did not exist.

18 - Keybinding has been added.

19 - Master Volume, BGM Volume, SFX Volume, Menu Volume and Voice Volume slider system has been added.

20 - All outfit pieces have been updated to account for the revamped body and new sliders.  

KNOWN ISSUES LIST

1 - Audio Sliders: Master Volume is not functional. All other audio sliders are working as intended. Also on first launch, audio sliders seem to be set to a null value which makes them visually appear to be set at 0 while being at max volume.  Adjusting them the first time fixes this. Thunder and Lightning sounds seem unbound to any slider and will continue to play at max volume with all sliders down.  Notably, the rain is bound to Ambient, but the thunder is not.   

2 - Character Customization: The Arm Size slider also visually moves the Breast Size Slider. While this doesn’t immediately affect the size of the breasts, touching the Breast Size slider at all sets them to this new setting and also sets the Breast Width, Height, and Depth settings to match the new Breast Size.  

3 - Keybinding: Open Inventory can be rebound to another key, but Tab still opens that menu.  Tab cannot be bound to anything else. It’s possible to bind multiple actions to the same key.

What exactly does the difficulty setting change? Between normal and easy enemies still block most of my attacks despite being in the middle of a stagger animation, and then manage to remove huge chunks of my hp. I've also seemingly experienced a bug during an assassination mission where the kunoichi suddenly died at full hp without being attacked. Key binding also does not work for the dodge ability. I'm trying to move dodge to my mouse thumb button but the ability stays locked to left alt.

To date the difficulty significantly increases/decreases the damage you take and the receive when engaged with enemies. It also significantly changes the stealth aspect of the game. Amount of time before warning etc...

Thank you for responding and explaining! I also want to add that Dodge and Hide/Crouch are locked to the original key binds, they cannot be changed to any other key. Other abilities/actions appear to rebind normally. I'm not sure why but enemies seem much more difficult to damage in this release. So far I've reached level 3 in 1.3a with 0 successful missions.

Hmmm... shouldn't be the case unless you've mistakenly equipped a damaged weapon. That could be the issue. Weapons have durability now and require repair when damaged. If you either equipped a damaged sword (low durability) or you attempted to copy the save data from a previous build you would more than likely encounter the scenario in which you are describing.

Awesome thanks and good job that's alot better. Next and most of all you got to fix the interfaces getting stuck on screen. When inventory or any of the other menus are opened. Whenever hit the ESC key it bugs the menus which I do often. Since it is very common way to exit menus in video games. Same for the i key opening character inventory, seen it used for the N key before but extremely rare.

Thanks for the feedback. But we are aren't seeing this issue on our end. Could you provide more details. Would need a more accurate description of what you mean by bugged. The best would be to provide a step by step repro with as much details as possible about what you are seeing. If we can reproduce it we can get it fixed. Thank you!

I am with Aeden regarding unable to unbind dodge key (alt key by default). LShift would have been a better location, IMO. Scrollwheel would have been better as cycle for consumables. And toggle for walk/run would have been even better. Feel like I am getting an arthritis on my left hand after playing for about an hour. Even with limited keybinding function, some of the key buttons are too far or weird location for them. Just a constructive criticism. Otherwise, the game ran great on my system at 4K 120 at High setting. Keep up the good work and looking forward for the next update. Cheers.

Hi there, how do we transfer save data from one Kunoichi build to another?

My save is fresh for 1.3a, and I'm using a weapon with durability over 80%, but boss type enemies deflect attacks with an extreme frequency. I've even had a basic enemy ninja deflect a sneak attack from behind. That said, I am enjoying the game, I'd just like to see bosses with less god-like reflexes. It sounds like the team hasn't encountered this issue, so I'm unsure of what to do about it. I've tried using bombs when allowed, but they block those too most of the time.

Unfortunately we don't recommend doing this as it will surely cause major bugs. You are free though to ask on our Discord and I'm sure there will be players that can provide more detailed information. Glad to hear you are enjoying the game. The combat system in Kunoichi especially in terms of bosses isn't like most games. We generally do not develop games that follow the typical mold. Our game (as explained in our commentary on what we wanted to create) looks to emulate the type of combat influenced from a lot of old school genres like older games we've played or films we've watched. Details can be found on the original posting for Kunoichi. With that being said, Kunoichi won't have a combat system that sees players landing every sword attack they throw. Or even a majority. With the influences that compelled us to create the game the idea that two people fighting with swords would kill each other after landing 50 sword slashes is a bit silly. In Kunoichi few blows will land. Or at least way fewer landing than being deflected. To help with that some HP is drained when blocking. But that isn't the optimal way to confront or attack an enemy. You can improve the landing percentage by using the dodge system which steers clear of the cornering and mouse button barrage tactic. If you time a dodge well enough your opponents back will be exposed making it easier to land a blow. If you are button mashing you will surely see a massive amount of blocks as it isn't the optimal method of attacking. Dodging, ninjitsu skills to throw enemies guards off balance are some of the ways to help with what you are seeing. Hope that helps to explain and provide a few solutions! - maidengaming

Also, we fully understand that something different won't be as popular and won't be liked by all but a big reason for Kunoichi's existence is the need to have a product that we feel free to try different things which helps give us a better understanding of making games and having fun doing it in the process. It's not as fun to develop systems that just replicate what everyone else is doing and much more fun to come up with something new. :)

How do you break enemies' guard? I keep getting thrown in battles with the bosses always being level 15. While being level 3 can understand them being tough, but the battles felt like they just drag. Since have no choice but to hold guard and attack hoping I will eventually hit them. Not sure if there was a parry or guard break? Or some way to stagger them. I tried range attack, held down shift for other attacks, also tried the kicks and dash attack. Nothing breaks their guard I have 2 early game battles in video below. In the second boss battle you will also notice I got hit by the boss at the beginning when looting. Since you automatically pull players out of that zone withing small amount of time. So, I then feel inclined to rush and grab the loot. Should give players a small prompt on the screen to leave area. Since can potential loose loot since you get pulled out of zone right after completing the mission. Which I can tell you already will likely frustrate players. The issue with the tactic in the video is you're mostly button mashing. You should try dodging. Also ninjutsu skills like shuriken or ice bombs work as well. As far as the level 15 enemies unfortunately that will be the case until more of the mechanics are in. Eventually enemies will slowly be introduced from lower to higher levels. At the moment encounters are random which include the enemy levels. At some point in the future it will be more of a progression.

I do have an idea of how to fix the button mashing issue though. More than likely in the next update we will have enemies instantly counter when players try to brute force the battle to help register that it should be approached more tactically. That might help but we'll see. I'm sure it will all evolve over time. :)

You can't use bombs in Stealth missions, I didn't record it but I did dodge that does nothing. . You only side and back dodge both getting you further away from enemy. There is no attack window with the dodge after they attack. If is possible, then would appreciate a video showing me how it's done. Since I don't see how it is possible. The dodge seems only effective if enemies throw bombs same as player. Which couldn't be blocked and needs to be dodged. Btw I just fought the same level 15 in second fight in video. Gave up fought her for ten minutes, I buffed my damage and defense with spells I burned through healing items couldn't even touch her. Her health was still over 90%. after 10 minutes. Looks like the orange bar is the break bar but even when depleted was only doing 15 damage for some reason maybe bug? Never changed my weapon. Speaking of the counter you need player to parry and counter, if enemies can do it should also allow players to reverse counter that as well. With another timed parry, making enemies even more difficult sounds counterintuitive.

The orange bar does not indicate guard break that UI informs you which pieces of your gear or weapons are broken. The game has durability now. Attacking (especially button mashing) will damage your weapon which yields much lower damage which would explain the fight taking longer than 10 minutes and only doing 15 damage. You are also free to reduce the difficulty setting which will help you to get past enemies quicker and there are vendors in the market areas available to repair damaged weapons and gear.

I'm having similar issues as the OP except with me when I try to doge to the side of them when they attack I usually still take damage and they snap back into guarding my attack most of the time with the ice bomb freezing them being the most reliable way for me to get damage in next time I play I'm going to try using a controller to see if I get better results. Also how do you disguise yourself for the stealth missions.

There is a known bug with blocking that causes it to get stuck will look at it sometime in the future. That might be what your seeing. Want to try to avoid making this thread a support thread or discussion thread on how to's as it is doesn't really work that well as far as layout and easy to miss comments or questions. I would suggest joining out Discord for support or answers to questions about gameplay. Would be much more convenient for you to get any number of questions answered on the game. I see thanks had no idea could repair. I originally, was talking about the orange bar below enemies' heath bar which decreases if constantly attacking. Then regenerates while not attacking them. So, it appeared to be some kind of break bar. The difficulty setting also don't appear to work, there is no indication. For which one you choose it isn't lit up or highlighted. Nothing is evident to the changes or happens when choosing a difficulty. So, it's hard to know what one your even on. Have short video below can't even tell what difficulty i was on to begin with. The second bar has not yet been implemented. We discuss this on one of our posts. We also point out the repair system in the post for the update and it's also pointed out in several places in the UI in game. The Tips UI, and also on the map seen before traveling to any location. Difficulty does work. It not being evident which is selected would be a separate issue. That being said, want to try to avoid making this thread a support thread or discussion thread on how to's as it is doesn't really work that well as far as layout and easy to miss comments or questions. Might seem like I'm picking things apart sometimes which is not my attention. Just trying to help and always felt a direct approach is best. I'm good for now on everything appreciate the help.

I see, I suspected the combat may be using an old school RNG system, I may have overlooked the combat commentary, I apologize for that. I'm not apposed to the old school decision, especially now that it has been somewhat explained. I've enjoyed the challenge it presented in older RPGs. Though with dodging being an integral part of combat, being able to rebind it would be rather significant. As-is I can't properly use it due to physical limitations.

this game has a lot of potential but my two biggest issues are that the stealth missions are impossible to due without getting seen because the boss always sees you no matter what, and the combat is unreliable with it being next to impossible to do any decent damage to anyone above lvl 5 without the ice bombs, and a slightly lesser issue I have is that the cost for crafting material seems to be crazy high although I do think that this bugging me so much because the current jank of the combat makes it so I fail way more missions that I pass making the money I gain relative to time played almost non existent and adding the cost of resupplying I get no money at all for time invested which has led me to not buying anything in an attempt to save up my money but this has only led to the combat issue being even more exasperated since I now have no ice bombs or healing items.

After the most recent update I just starting playing, even though supported you for months. So haven't kept up with things, the flat nipple textures just killed it for me. Now after fixing that I can fully enjoy game now. Yet I realized I was wrong. There was a crucial detail I missed. Seeing this is an online game. I thought as implied originally on first build I just needed the use of the internet once. To log game into Patreon to unlock it to play. Then after could play it whenever I want. Well Lost internet on my gaming PC something to do with Wifi adapter. Anyhow noticed the game had to be logged in again. While I was offline, which can't do since offline. So this game requires. internet and patreon to play at all times. So feel like I don't really own the game nor can play it freely whenever I want. So good luck to guys, if ever able to change that. Hit me up with a message and I will be glad to support you again.

So far I have two important visual bugs: after a while playing HP bars, quest notfication, quick items and so on are disappeared (thus make impossibile to manage encounters since I have to play with UI off). Lock on, quest giver marker and map marker are still visible. When I press photo mode I see clearly quest status flickering for a while, then it disappears. Toggling UI doesn't produce any effect. This seems saved somehow; I tried restarting the game and the issue is still there. Also every load game and map change reset the landscape bars even if I have the setting disabled. I have to toggle on and off to remove them. Since I don't know how to start a new game, I cannot say if these bugs are save related 100%. I'll try deleting all my save folder and start fresh.

nice concept of a game, still needs a lot to develop. Can we get the stat to work according to the weapons as it does not apply on the stats at all. I love the concept of changing weapons gives out different finishing techniques. need more weapon selections keep it up XD supporting since ever &lt;3
