This is based on a Santeria story which is (although you can't tell it from the first page) pretty darn hot.

Given that I'm already kind of on thin ice ethically by appropriating some other culture's story out of context to use as fetish fuel, I figured the least shitty way to do it would be to adapt the plot to a modern US setting, rather than trying to incorporate a bunch of Santeria concepts and messing them up or making an ignorant honky-ass stab at rendering historical West Africa.  Just know that a bunch of the details are different, but the events you'll see are the same.

Mini!

Thank you for adapting instead of butchering. Can't wait to see the rest! :-D

Oh. This looks like it's gonna be fantastic.

Question: do you have any kind of a link to (or title of) the original story? I'd be interested in reading it, even if only for the comparison/contrast.

The only online source I can find for the original is "Teachings of the Santeria Gods" by Ocha'ni Lele--the story is called "Unle Builds a Home." It seems to be pretty obscure!

Ed

Cheers, I'll go and look it up!

One thing I love about your stories is I never know what you're going to do next. The amount of obscure things you research for the sake of a throwaway joke or reference blows my mind. As much as I love your fetish works, if you ever decide to sell out and make something more mainstream I know you'd do a great job.

Thanks! (Although if anything, the fetish stuff is the "selling out"--it's way more lucrative than anything else I've done. People like sexy stuff, who knew?)
