Guest Artist of the Month Wallpaper - CheesyCryptid: The Groom of Gallagher Mansion (Patreon)

The first ever wallpaper collab initiative is now available! This breathtaking piece was done by the ever-so-talented CheesyCryptid (her Tumblr and Twitter respectively). We’ve included the full-coloured desktop piece with a monochrome variant, along with multiple variants of the smartphone wallpaper!

The piece features our two beloved spooky boys, ghost and ghost-hunter themselves, Elias and Taylor! It beautifully encapsulates the lore within the game with the background pieces and both of the boys’ personalities with their poses simultaneously.

Along with the wallpaper, Cheesy has included a small “commentary” regarding her time working on the piece and coming into the SnaccPop Studios fanbase. It’s a very sweet read that brought a tear to our eyes when we read it! ;w;

CheesyCryptid’s Commentary:

Hi everyone, I go by the nickname Cheesy! I am an artist from the Philippines currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. My introduction to Snaccpop Studios came from admiring hundreds of awesome fanarts and fanfics from various creators on Tumblr, and I immediately fell in love with The Groom of Gallagher Mansion. The game's blend of spooky narratives and sweet romantic plots just haunted my ghost-loving nerdy heart ever since :)))

This game lived in my head rent-free for so long after it provided a much-needed escape during a period of intense burn out due to uni work and other personal responsibilities. After discovering on Tumblr that the full game was out, I immediately went to revive my Steam account from the dead. Playing it on a dark, stormy night in my dorm room was unforgettable and basically heightened my first run through of the game . After I finished getting all the endings, I was able to overcome a nasty art block through all the inspiration, resulting in a burst of five back to back TGOGM fan art pieces over two months! One of the coolest things that came out of this was that I was recognized by a renowned figure in the animation industry online through the first TGOGM fanart I made.

During the drafting stage of this piece, I wanted to strike a balance in portraying the personalities of the main subjects, Taylor and Elias (my beloveds). This involved experimenting with various poses and facial expressions, as well as deciding between an immersive narrative concept and a more confident poster-style approach. My goal was to have the best of both worlds without compromising the lore I wanted to include. That's when I decided to include lore within the background, like adding the portraits of Violet Dupont and Archibald Gallagher instead of everything being presented in the middle to avoid overcrowding the subjects. My rendering process typically begins with mapping out the tonal values of the piece, allowing me to maintain focus without getting lost in color blocking. Choosing the atmospheric tone for the artwork was a bit challenging, but I eventually settled on a balanced blend of warm and cool palettes inspired by the game.
