Happy Wednesday! You know the drill, but say... doesn't that collar look a bit familiar? Haha, well, let's not keep you waiting~

A DachaBo Remake!?

You heard that right! Sauce dropped some of the goods yesterday, and while we're keeping things hush hush for a bit (we don't want to make too many promises right now), we've got a little something to share from our newest programmer on the team.

Hiyo!! Flimbingo (she/her) here to explain the latest for DachaBo. If you have seen my previous tech demo, I won't be working on adding those features in just yet— right now, all that's being done is revamping and recreating the old DachaBo build that was made in TyranoBuilder and moving it to Ren'Py. The DigiDaki Engine being used for Sleepy Time Jack is a great base for it!
This change will allow DachaBo to become a far more expansive game in the future!  Things are moving pretty smoothly— conversions between the original game and the new build are mostly 1:1. There will be plenty of familiar aspects and new aspects to improve the game too— please look forward to it, as I'll be making sure DachaBo is perfect to enjoy!

Sauce is currently preparing the new art for export so the DachaBo remake is still using the old art. We hope to have this ready by the middle of June at the latest so that the original proof of concept is a little more accessible to everyone to enjoy. And since it's in Ren'Py, we'll also be able to provide an Android build as well!

Sleepy Time Jack

Speaking of the DigiDaki Engine, we have a bit of news on Sleepy Time Jack. No new build this week, but we do have a new title screen illustration in preparation of getting Sleepy Time Jack onto Steam for wishlisting and Early Access there as well. We've also handed the script over to our Japanese translation team so they can start working on that, and the Spanish team got the greenlight to begin recording audio as well.

The Groom of Gallagher Mansion

Oriana and Terra are working on some of the less exciting things under the hood with The Groom of Gallagher Mansion, like polishing up the user interface and such. One thing we do have to share though is a new asset that Nana drew for us to use in the flashback sequences.

If you're pursing the For the Truth ending, there are moments in the game that are decidedly unpleasant for both Elias and Y/N to experience, as these are glimpses into Elias' past. We originally weren't planning to have illustrations for these, but after some thought, we determined that some sort of visuals were necessary.

As some of you might remember, Terra (programmer for Sunny Day Jack) and Johan (editor for Gallagher Mansion) run their own indie studio by the name of Fiendish Fiction, and one of their latest releases was Up All Night: Daybreak. With some of their help and advice, we're taking a page out of their book to coordinate our own nightmare scenes for Gallagher Mansion.

Above are the individual assets that Johan drew for the opening scene. When you put all of them together...

Everything else is modified in code, utilizing camera filters and tints. A still image doesn't quite give it justice, but I unfortunately didn't have enough time to make a gif. If you want to see it all in action, you can play UAN: Daybreak for free (CW: Gore, Blood, Violence, Depression. Dead Dove: Do Not Eat).

And that's a wrap for this week. We'll see you around!
