Some days just really come at you without any warning.

Today I took my lovely, sweet wife Lisa to the dentist, on account of persistent tooth ache. Seems my love has two impacted wisdom teeth on the right side of her lower jaw, so we are going to have to travel out of area to see a surgeon specialist to have them removed, as they are riding a major nerve. It's a dangerous operation too, due to the proximity to the nerves. We are doing our research to make sure we make the best choices, moving forward.

After the dentist, we came home to find a homeless woman scoping out my house, and the rest of the neighborhood. Burglary has escalated in my local area, due to drug use. Drug addicts are looking for things to steal, so they can get their fix. They usually don't come into our neighborhood, but seems this lady was scouting new turf.  I took a picture of her, and she left.

Then I find out that one of my patrons has uploaded a lot of my Patreon exclusive work to a site. Fortunately, it seems the terms and services of the site do not allow such things, so I reported the gallery, and we shall see how it goes from here.

Dental stuff happens, and we are on the road to fix it. Such is life.

Sometimes people want to invade your home and take your stuff. But fortunately, nothing happened, and we are wiser for it.

As an artist, art theft happens. It doesn't rock my boat, and as long as the majority of people who support me here remain honorable, I will be fine. I trust you guys!

..well, at least those of you who aren't betraying me by posting my work for others to get for free... What kind of person does that? It's not like I am a rich rockstar or anything!

,,,*cough*

Anyways, the Patreon platform has really given me the freedom to push myself to try new things and improve my art. things like anatomy, lighting, backgrounds, color theory, composition and camera angles... As an artist, it's hard to experiment when you are constantly working on client jobs to pay the bills, because the client expects a certain standard. Change isn't always welcome. However, with Patreon, I can choose what to draw, and so I can actively root out my weaknesses and work on them, which allows my work to constantly evolve and improve. I look at my work from this time last year and I can see a big improvement. Patreon gave me that. You guys gave me that. I am truly grateful for this opportunity, and I will keep doing it as long as it's a viable way to support my work.

Anyways... Haha despite the strange, obstacle ridden day, I am in a good mood. Just found it to be an odd day. At any rate, I can't wait to share my ideas for this month's art pack!

See you all soon with some sketches!

I’m sorry that your day was less than awesome , but at least you have a very optimistic outlook on everything. I’ve been your patron for awhile, and it’s been really great watching your skills and creativity blossom. I greatly look forward to what you have to share in the future, and am excited to see what new directions you take your craft!

Thanks Edward! I always appreciate that you take the time to comment on my posts, here. I may not always have a witty reply, but it really means a lot to me that you are willing to support my work and give such positive feedback. Very encouraging!

Best wishes for you and your family. Do the things that should be done and don't sweat the rest.

I'm sorry some people feel the need to "share" your work on other boards. It's like no one cares that people pirate anything anymore (as if piracy is something to expect if you're online).

Really sorry to hear about these bumps in the road and i hope the dental surgery goes well. I have half an idea of who that art thief might be as i know of a certain person on DA who has been doing the same thing to some artists i like for a while now, bring that banhammer down hard! :) Oh and I can't wait to see what you have planned for us this month!

RoninDude

Yeah, it's lame, and unfortunately, you do kind of have to expect it. But that doesn't make it right, and it doesn't mean we should let it fly. :)

RoninDude

We are making sure that we get the best help we can, so it all goes smoothly as possibly. Thanks for the well wishes. :)

Reading your words, I can tell right away that you and I think very differently about the way the world works. That being said, I can appreciate the human compassion behind your words, so thank you. No prayer is necessary, but I appreciate the sentiment, all the same.

Sending karma and good vibes for Lisa and hoping for a quick recovery. Those surgeries and recovery suck. I know you’ll be waiting hand and foot on her as she mends. I do get how you feel about your material being put out there without permission. It’s been done to me. The first time it was a charity piece that I did freely. It was posted up online innocently by a well meaning individual, and, the next thing I know, I see it up on Etsy being sold by someone for profit. The internet, while a blessing at most times, brings out the worst in some. Keep up the excellent work. Your learning curve has been educational and beneficial to my designs, too.

Thank you very much, Vincent. We are doing all we can to get the best help. :) Sorry to hear about your art theft, that's so frustrating! I am glad that you find value in the work I post! That's very rewarding to hear. :D

That’s pretty messed up.

I hope the dentistry goes well! I've been having issues with that myself. (Years of no dental insurance and whatnot.) Sorry to hear that someone tried to post your exclusive pics. I try not to shareimages unless they are marked in some way by the artist, myself.
