This is a progress shot of the first image of this "swordswoman vs goblin" set.

A little over ambitious...

Considering all that I had to get done this month in my personal life (a word or two on that, below), I was a bit overly ambitious with this set. It's been a while since I really challenged myself, so I felt it was important to really do my best. However, I lost track of time while working on these. Normally, I would have just cleaned up the thumbnail sketches, and adjusted things like perspective and proportions by eye as I worked a cleaner sketch over it. However, I really wanted to do my absolute best, so I tried creating a 3d reference for these scenes. I thought it would save me time... but it really just added a ton more work (and time) to the project. I imagine if I got used to creating 3d reference for every drawing, I'd get much faster, but regardless, if you compare the preview shot above to the thumbnail sketch, I think it's obvious that it was a massive improvement. There's still a few things that I want to add to the scene, such as a ruined door and some old tattered tapestries, but it's coming along nicely. I have all four scenes mocked up in 3d for reference, so I just have to do the line work and colors, and it will be something to be proud of.

Weddings and vehicle issues...

As for my personal life, this month I have had my plate full of responsibilities. First, I spent a great deal of time planning for 2 trips for my best friend's upcoming wedding. The plans are pretty elaborate, requiring a lot of time taken off to check-up/plan different aspects of the events with my buddies, as well as getting my wife and I outfitted with appropriate outfits and such for a fancy wedding shindig and two separate 4 day long bachelor/bachelorette events (which we did last weekend). Second, I have had to spend a bit of time shopping for a new vehicle, because mine is on it's last leg. Not fun, and not a lot of great options in my local area. I might end up having to look out of area to find something reliable. My friends are helping me with my search, as some of them have just been through this, themselves. XD

Change of plans...

So, the reason I bring all that up is to say that this art set is going to be delayed. Still, I don't want to let you guys go a month without any art, so I started working on another set that I can finish up by the end of the week, which should be just a day or two into September. Since I don't usually send rewards until the 5th of every month, we should be right on track. Here's a preview of the new set for August rewards:

She's a dragon girl! Thinking a black dragon, with pale skin and black scales at her joints/shoulders/spine. I was also thinking of going with a volcanic crater and magma falls for the background, which should look great.

I should mention that the "Swordswoman vs Goblins" set will be finished, I just want to be able to spend all the time I need to really make it my best work. When I do finish it, I will make it a Patreon exclusive art pack, and advertise it before hand on DeviantArt, so you can know ahead of time. If you pledged this month just for the "Swordswoman" set, then here is a little warning that it will be moved up to either September or October.

Ok, that's it for now! Let me know what you all think about swapping out this set, last minute.  I hate to do it, but I also don't want to skimp on detail, with this set. It's way beyond the scope of what I originally intended with these Patreon Pinups, but these more detailed story-type scenes are something I feel compelled to do, every so often.

Thank you for all your support, it means the world to me!
