So the last post I made w/the fake video game ad got me musing on making a real inflation-based FPS and I designed the mechanics in my head and I want to share the idea just because if I don't it'll drive me mad:

A first person shooter where the objective is to use an arsenal of inflation weapons until all opponents are popped. Simple as, but here's the mechanics:

Instead of health, players have an inflation meter that goes from 0-200%. Weapons increase that percentage by 'x' amount (weapon depending). Any player that is at 100% inflated or more is in a 'Critical State' and can be popped with a melee attack.

Players' speed and vertical mobility increase as they are inflated, once they reach 70% or more, they obtain the ability to fly;

Flight and upward movement is rewarded: the designs of the maps favors verticality. Better weapons are hidden in higher places, the best vantage points are up high and, most importantly, the majority of weapons have 'weighted' ammunition; eg: bullets move slower w/more weapon spread when firing up, and move faster with greater accuracy when moving down. The idea being that players who are more inflated have a tactical advantage.

Players can deflate themselves at a rate of 1% per second if they stand still and hold the [deflation] key down.

Also had ideas for types of weapons and playable characters who have unique abilities and strengths, but I'll just stop now.

blegh. whatevs. This rant is sort of just how my brain works all the time: 100 ideas all at once and none of them remotely feasible. If you stuck around, thanks for reading, hope you like the idea of a game that you'll never get to play!

Feel free to share if you've got ideas too, though, I always find them fun to read!
