“If you’re going to steal my body, you can at least make an effort to make it look GOOD”, Pacifica told Candy Chiu, under, let’s say, abnormal circumstances (or abnormal to any other town besides Gravity Falls).

See, Pacifica wasn’t shy to let her opinion be heard. The big problem this time was that such an opinion wasn’t coming out of her lips, but from Candy’s. One day, a couple of weeks ago, they both woke up to find out they were habitating each other’s body: the cute Asian nerdy girl was now a Northwest, and the rich blonde heiress was trapped under the skin of what she would call “a complete dork”.

For one side of this equation, this experience has been a complete nightmare. For the other? Let’s say it’s a little more complicated.

You will see why.

Pacifica took a lot of pride in almost every aspect of her being, and at the top of that long, long list, you could find two traits: her beauty and her wealth. But then she found herself deprived of both. And she knew the rest of the town was poor, or to put it lightly, wasn’t as privileged as her. BUT MAN, WASN’T SHE READY FOR A RUDE AWAKENING! No ponies? Having to wear clothes from several SEASONS ago? Living in such a small home? Just the pool of the Northwest Mansion was way larger.

And that’s beside the fact that, for a while, they tried to play each other; go along with her new roles at least, so she had to pretend to be as geeky as her host body, and actually try to act like her, not to raise the attention of any of Candy’s loser friends.

This. Was. Hell.

And then, there was Candy. Who was hiding a little big fact that changed everything. The thing is, this wasn’t any coincidence or phenomena that came out of the blue, but it was BECAUSE of Candy’s action.

She always saw from away Pacifica’s life: her looks, her status, her popularity, even the attention (sort of) of the boy she had a crush on. True, she wasn’t exactly a nice person to be around, but sometimes she couldn’t help but to think how it would be to be her.

She heard about this rug. It sounded strange, but it had the capacity to allow people to swap bodies. Silly, but not beyond the point of being unbelievable given what your regular Gravity Falls folk has seen. But she couldn’t find her anywhere. At a certain point, it just makes you question your sanity: what is real around here and what is just a matter of urban legend.

If only she had a chance, if only there was a way, she fell asleep one night, seeing the starry nocturnal sky, wishing, longing, without really thinking about the consequences beyond the fulfillment of a little childish desire.

And then, well, next morning came with the news you already know.

The problem was that, when you wish upon a star, there’s no guarantee it will be there for you next night. And after enjoying a little of Pacifica’s lifestyle, Candy was ready to return to her own body, kind of. Not as much as Pacifica of course, but it was a given that they both expected this situation to be fixed sooner or later.

“Alright, so when are we going to expect to go back to normal?” Pacifica demanded one day. “When can you do the wish to get us back to our own bodies?”

Candy had bad news though: she actually had tried, for several weeks, to make a wish, and nothing seemed to work. The time was running out, yes, but not for some arbitrary gap of opportunity: that was gone a long while ago. Time was running out and so were Candy’s excuses to tell her friend that they were, as far as she knew, stuck for good.
