Story for September: Marinette's Makeover (Patreon)
Content
“Stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID bet” Marinette couldn’t help but repeat herself such words as she felt Chloe’s hands drying her hair with a towel.
“What are you mumbling, dear?” Chloe asked.
“Nothing…” Marinette replied, trying to own it and being a good sport, or as much of a good sport as she can be given the situation.
By that point, the origin of the bet was sort of pointless: it didn’t matter. All it mattered is that she lost to the worst possible person she could have lost. Someone who wouldn’t take a “no” for an answer, or that would let it go or accept any other kind of payment or agreement. The only way out was to be a grown up, and get it through.
The entire day has been a nightmare after another and while Marinette didn’t want to make the sum on her head, she felt pretty well where everything was leading to.
First, the tanning salon. Well, to be fair, first there was an attempt to use spray tan, but it wasn’t really giving the desired results, so there was this little change of course.
Oh god, those beds, how can ANYONE pay good money to be lying under such an annoying light for so long? And maybe it wasn’t that much time, BUT IT SURELY FELT LIKE IT!
By the end of the session, she could see a very noticeable change. Marinette’s clear fair skin was replaced by a bronze hue. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t look so unnatural.
Then we went shopping, and that doesn’t sound that bad in theory, the problem is that I wasn’t the one picking the outfits. Everything, every single item was picked by Chloe, so I guess it’s up to her and I should trust her taste… I don’t really trust anything about her, but a deal is a deal… yeah, even one such as this one.
And then, to the beauty salon, the last stop to this nightmare. By this point, anyone would probably think this process would get somewhat easier, but we’re talking about Chloe's twisted mind, and whatever she still had in store for her “fashion victim” (both literally and figuratively), there was no way it would be easy to accept or process.
But there was really no point in showing any resistance. Marinette kept repeating herself, “let’s just get it through it”. It didn’t offer much of a consolation, but I don’t think anything short of this torture to stop would, and that wasn’t available on her table.
Just when Marinette thought that day would be endless, she finally hear the magical words:
“It’s done!” Chloe said. “My masterpiece it’s finally finished!”
“Oh God, it must be worse than I imagined,” Marinette thought, because there was no way she would be happy with something that blonde approved so much.
“Don’t be shy,” Chloe insisted. “Don’t you want to at least take a look? Aren’t you curious?”
“No,” Marinette thought.
“C’mon, it may surprise you”.
Somehow, as Chloe handed Marinette a mirror to take a look at her new reflection, it was both a big shock, and totally what she was expecting.
“WHAT THE H?!” Chloe yelled.
“Oh, I should have known you wouldn’t be able to appreciate my genius,” Chloe replied as she crossed her arms. “But hey, the bet it’s clear now”.
“What did you do to me?”
“I improved you”.
It was bad enough having to see her. Now she was actually going to look like her? As some bizarre twin sister from hell? From her blonde hair, to the fake tan, to the outfit, even the makeup, it was a LIVING NIGHTMARE, and it was about to get worse.
Maybe…
Because the strangest of the strange things could be that, as Marinette walked along Chloe with her new look, was the reaction of the people around them, of the world around them. She even heard some random comment.
“Look at those hot blonde twins!” The voice said.
“Twins?” Marinette blushed as that thought reached her mind. Was the makeover so effective, to other people’s eyes they looked as if they were related? So closely related, to boot?
To them, they were sisters just sharing a nice day. Why would anyone have any reason to think otherwise?
And to Marinette’s surprise: somehow, she was actually warming up, at least to some buried level of her conscience, to the idea…
