orochi's devil fruit is Yamata no Orochi,japanese legendary monster. This monster has 8 head.That mean it never died until ALL head cutted off. Orochi already cutted off 1 by Kaido,6 by akazaya（Kinemon etc）and last one by Denjiro in this episode.so he is dead

The Color of the kurozumi orochi mentioned is the black, unlike the other names of wano families that has the moon in it, the kurozumi clan name means coal, as a form of discrimination. I guess that’s why he wants to burn everything in wano as a revenge.

All of these flash back scenes were actually Canon in the manga. None of this was filler and its as you said, this is the 20 years of suffering, turomoil and slavery that wano's people had to endure because the "dawn" is coming at last with luffy/joyboy once again becoming the warrior of liberation and freeing the people from there oppression.

Although the flashbacks were canon, they would hit differently if they didn't abuse them so much throughout the arc to pad the episodes. Still got emotional seeing the wishes on the balloons, nice episode.
