i hope this doesnt count as a spoiler since it was shown in Season 1 but that old zenin dude is the head of the Zenin clan, he appeared in season 1 in a flashback of Maki leaving the clan.

I'll be the tie breaker, just wait till after S2. I can't imagine hoe hype it must be going through it anime only first cause it's def hype even after reading. Once this season wraps up you'll want to read the manga even more, whichever way you decide to go have fun man!

there's enough content post season 2 (probably enough to even start a fourth season if I'm being honest) in the manga, so definitely wait until this season finishes, you'll get the best of both worlds
