They cut out a huge chunk of the fight. It was a pretty cool chunk too. But they had to to fit this all into one episode. That’s the biggest problem with this anime. They only got 52 episodes to work with and a lot to go through. Why they chose only 52? No idea. clearly not enough. This would’ve been perfect if it took 1.5 episodes or 2 episodes. Ironic how the old anime was way too slow. This one is much too fast. Anyhow not to get your expectations up but the next 2 episodes should be the best 2 episodes in this season. Maybe except the final episode.

haven't read the manga but yeah you actually hit the nail on the head. I didn't know what it was, but now that you said it, the episodes are way too sped up. fights seem to just start between two characters then it's over in the blink of an eye. at first I thought maybe it was because the quincies are just so much more powerful than the captains, but it just feels off. the two captains here got taken out in an instant, didn't even go into hollow form or exert themselves at all? just feels off..
