Sidenote: Gus didn’t kill victor because he was seen at the crime scene. As victor said it was a lot of randoms just like him there it wasn’t really suspicious. Gus killed victor because he went on his own accord and stepped out of line. (Deciding himself to cook when he’s not a chemist)

Both are valid reasons IMO, it was most likely a combination of the two. We never hear Gus explicitly state what his motive was. Could also be that he was just venting out his rage & bloodlust from the whole fiasco and he couldn't kill anyone else in the room as Victor was the only dispensable person there

The biggest hint was when he stared a victor and seen him cooking. To assume gus the careful druglord that he is would kill one of his most valuable hitman as a way just to let out his anger on something is honestly retarded and isn’t consistent with his character

What an ep to start the season

It was both reasons, that’s why Mike was shown mad when victor told him he was seen, if you’re not sure about something don’t spread false information

I am completely sure kid thats why I said it. Next that was not the reason he killed his 2nd most valuable hitman. The reason was because he stepped out of line without Gus command and decided he was going to be a chemist. The point gus was making is he doesn’t tolerate insubordination regardless of who it is from.

I think this is one of the best Episodes of Breaking Bad, like Season 4 and 5 are both crazy good and this Episode starts it off really good. Like the whole scene with Gus coming in and pretty much for the whole Scene he doesn't say a word until the very end. And there also isn't much emotion going on which makes it even scarier. Even Mike was shocked and didn't expected Gus to kill Victor. Mike literally pulled his Gun and pointed it on Gus when he sliced Victors throat. And the Acting of everyone is just top tier. People are a bit all over the place when it comes to the "why?" Some people say that Gus killed Victor because he acted on his on when he started cooking, or that it's because he was seen or both. Others say that Gus was dead set on killing Jessie and Walt because they killed Gale. But after listening to what Walt said he realized that it's not smart to kill the Chemist, since he has no other Chemist. After all this is a big business. And what Walt said makes sense. Victors knows how to cook it, but he doesn't has the knowledge. So what happens if the way it has to be cooked changes, because of humidity or other reasons. So he changed his plan and killed Victor to proof a point and shock them. Pretty much what Jessie said at the end. And the transition from wiping the Blood on the floor to dipping the Fries in the ketchup gets everyone, such a good transition. Breaking Bad has so many good transitions. Edit: Oh yeah, also Victor is not really one of Gus's men. He is one of Mikes men. Mike has his own trusted men that. But yeah in the end they all work towards what Gus wants since he is the big Boss. So I guess Gus isn't really emotionally atttached to Victor, the only thing that Gus will probably miss about him is that he was technically good at what he did.
