fukuoka is a place in japan, but yeah it's pronounced like how sean said it b4 also it appears they're giving numbers to humanoid kaijuus...since kafka is #8 and the one that went to hiding is called #9, i think this implies there were 7 of them before kafka and this one appeared

Kafka is actually the first humanoid Kaiju they have encountered. The numbers just denote really strong Kaiju. A lot of people are also missing the fact that in this Earth Kaiju have existed for a very long time Hoshina mentions his family has been fighting Kaiju since Muromachi period which was the 1300s.
