The Dad Crew sits down to talk about episode 42 of season two including whether or not there was too much piss content, how Matt thought out Daryl's death, and how Beth was a smaller part of the first part of the episode because she was sick and recording remotely.

My memory of shows I binged is actually non existent. Because it's such instant gratification, I just don't remember very much of what happened. I can still say it was a good experience or a bad experience but even like a week later I go wow I have no real memories of that. Where as week to week stories, such as comics or podcasts that I'm caught up on, I only forget minor plots even if we went on a year hiatus. Like I might want to reread/listen to something that just came back from a long hiatus but I don't need to.

Mad disappointed in Matt’s pit bull opinion. There’s so much to learn about this situation!!! But I can’t be that upset because he’s a random guy I listen to and he doesn’t really affect legislation I guess. I love some things of his (he’s one of the best of the pod), hate the others, and just really sad about this situation because I have an emotional connection to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't really feel like it was wild or super critical but that's my opinion. Dog breeding in general can be pretty crummy. There are reasons a lot of people who've immigrated to the US/UK are distrustful of dogs, love introducing folks to our pups who are lovely.

It sounds like the thing I was referencing was actually cut. I’m not sure which version of the cast you heard. Regardless it’s totally fine if that IS his opinion I just have a personal connection to that particular issue and was upset. I hope they cut what they did because they thought they needed more nuance and not because they felt like it was an opinion that should be silenced. I’m not one to write someone off because of a differing opinion. I just hope we can reach a middle ground. And I totally accept you can’t do that with a podcast host.

@beth and @anthony you've probably already recorded the next episode by now but there's a great short 6 episode podcast called 'Did the Titanic Sink?' which is a kiwi/aussie comedy conspiracy theory podcast and has tons of info about the titanic and the events around it's sinking. Even if you have passed it being relevant I still think you'd get a kick out of the podcast.

The frogs that Beth was talking about are called Colorado River toads and they release DMT through their skin. My mom’s dogs have licked them and survived, but had one hell of a night. The toads were/are collected and revered by some Native tribes for rituals. Cool creatures.

I was 15 years old when independence day came out, and I had a very different takeaway, but I remember telling my parents after the movie that it would be cool to have the exact same movie from the point of view of the aliens. Which my parents thought was pretty neat. But my takeaway and why I said that was that I never could tell if we were actually the good guys in that movie. It's just assumed, like a lot of big budget action movies. I just felt like will Smith could've instead of saying "welcome to earth, bitch!" Maybe he didn't say bitch, but instead of saying that and punching the alien. He could've said "welcome to earth" and held out his hand, ala Darrell Wilson style. Then we might have learned that I dunno maybe they were just misunderstood and had a really sad story.

Regarding binging, I agree with Freddy about anime being great, but I was watching quite a bit of One Piece, basically binging whenever I could and I told one of my coworkers that I was binging one piece and he goes, "Did you lose a bet??" I'm like, huh? He says, "there's like 1100 episodes and a dozen movies" I'm like HUH?! Like I thought I was getting close to catching up but was like a quarter the way through, so I just stopped watching it completely because I knew it would just totally wreck my life if I committed to such an unholy binge. And that's why I have very mixed feelings about One Piece.
