Note: This episode contains spoilers for the movie Tár. Tár spoilers and discussion: 2:00 - 7:38. (h/t to Sony Nicolson for the timestamps!)

The Dad Crew breaks down the latest episode of season two, including the unique escape combat in this episode, the plethora of meat noises Ester delivered, and the extra ending everyone recorded but didn't use.

Plus, Anthony talks about the new God of War game he worked on, everyone talks about times they've made desperate attempts to look cool, and of course everyone does a deep dive on Army of Two Google search trends.

As a Wisconsinite, I can only process drinking fountains as bubblers

Have been a God of War fan my whole life, haven't played Ragnarok yet but excited for it. You're doing God of War's work, Anthony 👍

spacepale

I've had this idea for a pinball based script in my mind for awhile and was gonna give up on it but because of Freddie's pinball story I'm gonna start working on it again lol

Despayeeto's

So strange to see Anthony down on this episode - it was one of my favourites from the past few months. Not every episode needs 3 new plot points introduced alongside 10 minutes of exposition! I'm someone who doesn't usually like combat, but unique scenarios like this with little character interactions are fun!

Will, I formally request a picture of the jean jacket. Please, - A Fellow Radical Jean Jacket Owner

Riley Moncur

Yeah, combat is getting kinda old. I'm here out of love of the creators

nbsgamer

I like the combat because it's humor. with. consequences.

As an old white video gaming male, I don't tune to hear nerds like me yap about video games. I can get that by listening to my friends.

I'm 22 so I played Army of Two when I was 8 years old. Every single time Army of Two is mentioned I get such a stupid amount of joy, it's incredible, just reminds of me playing it with my older brother

the slunch

i would donate a kidney to talk to freddie wong about pinball. it’s been my major hobby this year and i had a similar thing happen where i tried to give up and my competitor freaked out and told me to give it a chance and i beat out their score on that ball. he was right, any ball could be THE BALL

Ben Botella

The lack of Beth’s voice for most of this episode was, absolutely, disappointing. Her two ABSOLUTELY KILLER fuckin jokes without a doubt reminded me why I love you all. Always glad to be here

The Plum Satyr

Please don't underestimate how interesting Anthony talking about the videogame industry is

Alex aka Zol Ark

South DAKOTA is no longer black out for Army if two!!!

Alex

I actually woulda liked to have heard you guys talk about the intro.

Serenity Now

Googled Army of Two in Wyoming. Truly thought I might end up on some militia dating site, but nope, it was the game. Go figure

Michael Miller

I'm currently playing a Harengon gunslinger in Spelljammer, named Jazz Jackrabbit and nobody got the reference. Glad I'm not the only one who remembers that game.

Harrison Lee

Dude. Darktide mbic. They already promised it. You all heard it.

Iceage777

Im currently playing through God of War ragnarok, and I've literally been trying to guess what lines Anthony wrote. There have been some that have been hilarious to me and some of it DEFINITELY feels his style. Glad he told us a bit about it 😄

Adrien

Beth dont ever let the boys take over the topic again please you’re the only funny one 😭

Ben

When Matt talked about Dorothy pouring milk over her cereal, it just hit me that over listening to this podcast we are experiencing a human being growing up. Sorry, that's just amazing to me (although it's been a little on Speedrun for me because I started listening last year - a bit like episode 2 this season 😂)

Chell-glados@hotmail.com

Well now I have to watch a 2.5 hour movie to get 5 more minutes of these guys talking DONE DEAL

Cory B

I just wanna say that it's not that combat is boring, but for me, a deeply visual person with an auditory processing disorder who insists on consuming audio media, it's just confusing sometimes to understand where everyone is at. I still love the combat episodes and the mechanics that you come up with on the spot, they're really fun and keep it interesting

Red Hansen

I played through all of ragnarok and did NOT realize the poems were those references! absolutely slaps now that I know

Lauren

Ok, I live in Wyoming! And I don't Google Army of Two because I know what it is and I LOVE IT OOKK.

Vinisa

To add on to that list of people who did one thing did another: Author Naomi Novak of books/Series like Spinning Silver, A Deadly Education, and his Majesty's Dragon, is also a co-founder of AO3, one of the biggest fanfiction websites out there

2023-04-25 04:33:14 Did Anthony do any character work in GOW? Because the way Sindri’s arc goes at the end feels so much like a d&dads npc

The pinball story followed by the water fountain absolutely sent me. I cannot listen to this at work, everyone is staring

Sam

Hearing Will reference Columbo added 4 decades to my lifespan

Dylan Selhorst

My brother and I played the shit out if the second army of two on like a shitty 1990s box tv on the Xbox 360. Some of my fav memories

Quantum OFZENTRIX

Didn't know Anthony wrotenfor ragnarok, I know he'll hate this but the mission with Brokk is one of my favourite in any game I've played

Zachary LaRue

I am not acknowledging any Army of Two: 40th Day slander. It’s one of my favorite shooters of all time, and getting any friend to play it has created cherished memories.
