The Dad Crew assemble to talk about episode 21 of the new season including how Freddie got absolutely bodied this episode, the difference between the way the Dads and the Teens make hard decisions, and Beth's process for nailing the Gerard Way vocals in the intro.

Plus, they get into the lines from the show that get stuck in everyone's head, favorite LGBTQ media, and why prequels are better than sequels.

Just catching up on the episodes and when Matt mentions the Red Rising series, *chefs kiss*, excellent example. Sensational series and probably one of the best series I've read in a LONG time. I am maybe on my 4th listen through of the series before the final book comes out in the sequel series. Book 2 of Red Riding is the best ending to any story if you're a big fan of suspense. Read them, you wont regret it. And if don't like reading, listen to them on Audible, the audio book version with Tim Gerald Reynolds is bangin. Do yourself a favour and give it a go.

everything they were saying about good/bad sequels rings so true for the ace attorney games, apollo justice taking the themes of the original trilogy and elevating it PRIMED for takeoff, and spirit of justice being rehashed iconic characters with no purpose

I'm glad I heard them talk their thoughts through with handling Erin and then evolve into a conversation about S1 vs S2 and then even further into what makes sequels/prequels work. I'm not part of the reddit/discord discourse, so sorry if there is a dead horse around, but it's always seemed to me the tension in this season comes from the listener knowing the 'spoiler' (be it that Erin is pretty nice or that willy=bad) while the cast is pretending not to know it. On top of that the cast ACCURATELY but frustratingly playing teens who are pretty chaotic. After hearing this talk about sequels I realize that my 'notes' would make a terrible S2. That's what they tried to do in TFA - bring you back into the same universe w/o really breaking anything so you just end up with a nothingburger. Trying to write a more complex story while people improv their way through it as chaotic teens is wild and despite all that S2 is great.

Ryley Henry

When Freddy mentions the whispering arm wrestler, I'm 99% certain it's Devon Larratt he's talking about. One of the greatest arm wrestlers that's ever existed. If you wanna get into an obscure, silly sport, watch the best: Devon Larratt. Insanely talented with personality/humor that's larger than him.

I’m not completely sure if Freddy is just joking for Anothny about Borderlands 2, but he is 100% correct. The writing makes Bl2 such an amazing game with an amazing story, and Handsome Jack is one of the best villains ever made

Will's question about getting lines from the show stuck in your head, is ironic because the two of mine are both from Henry (with a Ron cameo). "Sparrow, how would you like it if someone ripped off your skin without consent?" and the "AUCTIONED???? A WEEK?" "how much?" are both things that are constantly bouncing around my empty brain cavity.

Anthony sounded rather Handsome this episode.

Shout out to Will for introducing me to Act II The Father of Death…been missing out.

The thing that I think of all the time is from an episode of talking dad's, Anthony says, "I was at the Ritz-Carlton and I'm from Arizona which is the opposite of the Ritz-Carlton." Probably about once a week and I have never been to either place so I don't know why it's stuck with me

Freddie is right tho because literally when he said, “Nani? Nani???? Hatsune Miku???” I LITERALLY ALMOST PISSED MYSELF LAUGHING I HAD TO PAUSE AND LITERALLY DOUBLED OVER LAUGHING AND HAD TO GIVE MYSELF LIKE 5 MIN TO CALM DOWN

Sophie nah

I love how sassy Normal was in this ep. Also how Erin was like "Your dad liked to get the last word in too" now i just want sassy Sparrow

well. since we're rec'ing lgbtq shows. if you've ever played yakuza or watched a heroic bloodshed action movie and thought "all these homoerotic gunfights are cool but i think the mobsters should also have gay sex" well friend! consider watching kinnporsche. it's a thai action romance drama and frankly nothing i could say about it would prepare you for how gay and insane it is. good luck.
