The Dad Crew talks through episode thirteen of the new season, including how everyone felt about all of the new lore reveals, the big turn of the season, and the monumental task of trying to match Eminem's flow for the intro song.

Plus, they talk about ways to slow down time as you get older, how to deal with imposter syndrome, and what everyone used to during recess as a kid.

FYI I have heard glide is no bueno. Doesn't trap tartar. Per my dentist. Lmao

Elyse Johnson

Well the Titanic episode has confirmed not biologically related to either.

Noa JayDe

Beth did the rap better 👀

Gillable

Kaleb Phillips

I hate to say it, but I actually look forward to the Teen Talks more than the actual episodes this season.

Julie Adams

i’ve been so excited for this all week 👀

Andrew Newton - Ross

I agree I feel like this season is more a TV show than an actual play. So it's more interesting to hear how they work it all out as a team of writers behind the scenes; so they can shape and form the show into the story they want to tell regardless of the impact random chance dice and improv roleplay create.

J.S.

The best part is Beth doing the chika-chika-chika part.

Mikayla Convery

On quiet ball - in Australia my school played silent ball when we had rainy days BUT ALSO it was just a major thing sometimes in our sport classes and this carried from our middle school all the way to highschool, like I remember playing it in my final years of school

Brett Simmons

I’m just stoked that maybe we’ll meet some fun new goofballs now that their into the “unknown” world. Like a little cthulu smudge ball that rolls around with them and just does cute things. But turns into a god cannon when they need it. Woo. Oh or the resistance fighters of the world taken over. Heck yeah.

Viyerre

I never realized how masterful "the real slim shady" is until right now. I listened to it again and you're right, it would absolutely humble me at karaoke.

Malory McVicker

Not to be the worst kind of rap hipster, but if you want dense rhyme schemes and similarly slick flow I would check out MF DOOM. Aesop rock is another who will just spit a novel at you.

Corbin Young

I agree, the opening to this episode was GOLDEN. I played it a few times just so I could sing along

The Red M

If matt read up what paladin could actually do (like being immune to disease) and Freddy was some of the variant rules then it might be better. But yeah the teen talks are honestly more fun.

Josh

Anthony saying "someone could tell me hey this could be better, and I'm like yeah. Could be! Not gonna happen" hit me like a freight train goddamn. Top tier Anthony. Also I'm with Freddie I think it's an easy rap, though I've heard the song a thousand times so I'm possibly biased.

Michael

Loving the season so far, the bit with the doodler gave me the same goosebumps as the omega dad's reveal

BigNovaKane

HAA, I fucking knew it was willy. Also it totally makes sense that he'd be able to manipulate a teen with a identity crisis.

Chantelle Black

The rap was so good, you guys are the new rap gods lmao

Jeff Johnson - The New World Saga

I always saw Willie being Scary's patron with her being a warlock. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Rollin Mike

Scary is going to have a fire album

Hoppa

Anthony talking about imposter syndrome and him being special and really sucking made me think of this Dutch comedian who said: “I suffer from a superiority complex, BUT I am aware of my superiority complex… so that makes me beter then other people with superiority complex” That was basically this but flipt 180° into the negative.

yaboi

The talk about "quiet ball" made me remember one of my elementary school's rainy day activities which is quite possibly the literal opposite: Boomball. We'd play in the gym, and it was basically baseball with two major changes - the ball was a soccer ball, and the bat was sawed off at the end and inserted into a plastic 5-gallon water bottle. Sucker got LOUD.

Emma Windle

Beth performing that Slim Shady parody was so purely amazing. Just when I think you guys top yourself with a banger intro song you go and do it again. ❤

Matt Downey

Listening to this for the first ten minutes and realise Will isn't talking. A few more minutes and I'm getting concerned like does he feel bad about his (awesome) performance this episode??? Then realise at minute 19 when you say he's not there that he's not there lol. I hope he's well and he's proud of the episode!

Chris Bean

@freddie with your oral story. I work for a school system so it's also possible that she was trying to identify potential abuse. Usually children that have knowledge of adult words like that is an indicator.

Nicole Martinez

when are we gonna get an album of the intro songs???

Michael Singer

Think kick the bucket is also from hanging because the dood would stand on a bucket to wear their necklace then ya… well ya

Carrie

So did the current missing Dads, aka S1 kids, do code purple or was it OG Daddies?

Margaret Bashaar

I'm on Beth's side re: making Freddie do more work - USWNT games are important.

IngloriousBaxter

Does anyone know where I can find the fan art they were talking about?

Anthony Mertson

S1 call back… Cavity search 🤌🏾🤌🏾

Jordan Wilson

Whats wrong with being a Johnny Depp fan???

Oren Tuchman

I love the 3 guys without Will or Beth, it's fun energy!

JJ

I appreciate the conversation about imposter syndrome!

DemonicEros

If Willy isn’t gunna tag along then I think nick should cause grumpy older man baby sitting children is fav character trope

Evan Cordero

Finally all caught up on the podcast. And now it's time to feel empty inside for a whole week

Logan Reed

I'm confused af because I definitely thought we already knew Willy was Beth's patron, I swear someone mentioned it at some point before this episode.

Austin Baker

OH MY GOD FREDDIE THE XMEN GAME!!! You transported me back to so many forgotten memories of my childhood of the most fun game of all time which is choose which superhero or video game character you are and then pretend to be that person without interacting whatsoever with the other kids. Like no one would fight each other or against anyone else they would just pretend to be that superhero and feel like they're on cloud 9.

James Beard

Did Freddie talk about the parachute kid on an older Talking Dads or did I hear about the same exact kid on a different podcast?

L Wold

For the record: the ferry/fairy pun has always tickled me! ✨

Bunitj Miles

I work on a ferry in the brisbane river. They are used a lot in a contemporary sense.

Lorelei The Succubus and Kyra her busty Queen

As a fellow washingtonian, in like 5th grade or so the recess games were. 1- zombie ball ( popular kids mostly where you just touch the non infected people with a ball and then they act like zombies. 2- the short Asians played four square. 3- Teachers would take kids property as adults are prone to doing, they'd take Bakugan from students and force them to play for them back (forcing you to buy new toys to get your toys back). I just played video games

Kari Carter

I really hope Scary finds Ron's sexist jokes in the journal lol

Ali Cooney-Uribe

Playing X-Men! Everyone, boys included, would fight over who got to be Storm, your system is better.

Jason WillowHammer

As a person who grew up in New Orleans. Rainy day recess was every other day.

Brayden Miers

That's what I was fixing to ask! I don't want to assume anything though.

Izzy Woods

Quiet Ball Gang!😂💪🏽

Reilly Gillis

I gotta disagree with Anthony about the eye reveal. I think if it had been revealed while the eye was open it could have been interesting, but the reveal after it closes is way better. The characters get all this information dumped on them all at once, and while they're trying to work it out and make sense out of it. Then all of a sudden: *whump* sunset happens. It's dark. You've been reading about this eldrich being that has a grudge against your family. All of a sudden, in the dark stillness of night, you realize. "That's no sun." Episode ends in darkness and confusion. Exactly how lovecraftian media should. Not only that, but they realized this info in ostensibly the most private way they could. It's the only time they aren't being actively observed by the being that wishes to devour them. It also hammers home the absolute difference in scale between them and the enemy they face. For the doodler, it is but an eye-blink, quite literally. For them, it's an entire 12 hours of darkness. Also, I just wanna give props to Anthony for giving a great reveal. I realized when he made the comment about the "dagger like shapes pointing inward towards the sun" that it was the eye of the doodler, so for a little while I got to feel superior to these teens that have magic powers because I knew something they didn't:p

IngloriousBaxter

It’s actually pretty well documented that he’s an abusive dick. The most recent trial ended in his favor but the lawsuit in the UK didn’t. One could make the argument that Amber was also abusive but he is also on trial for assaulting a crew member on a film he was working on.

Joshua Edwards

Just in case Will is reading the comments in an anxious frenzy looking for people to say they are so glad he isn't hear for this. Just wanna say Will is my favorite and missed him this episode

WaxMan

I had thought that Code purple and the purple door was the door to Willie. Here’s my thinking, they are fighting the doodler (or rather trying to keep him at bay) and so if they are at their most desperate then they would bring out Willie. He would likely fight it because he doesn’t want to die and they would just deal with him after the fact

Gmork

Random question, but did they ever establish whether Link was biologically related to either Grant or Marco?

Matthew

Instead of "quiet ball" our game's name was called Mum Ball, like mum's the word I guess.

Andie Loos

Not me thinking Yeet could be Marco before remembering that Yeet didn't have feet but had a skateboard 😂

Mercy Lomelin

Did anyone find that article Anthony was talking about "how long does it feel like you've been alive at different stages"

Sam Crawford

I had the same purple sky theory! Also predictions for what the next song parody will be? My money’s on “coming out of the van and I’ve been doing just fine”

Panda_Dork

Thanks for the comments on the imposter syndrome. I struggle with that a lot and hearing other people talk about a similar experience (even though the cause is different) is really uplifting and helps me keep things in perspective. ❤️ Loved the latest ep!

Henry G

Where’s this weeks talking teens?

StudFinderGoesBEEP

A good way to challenge Imposter Syndrome is to verbally describe yourself (to yourself) as though you were another person introducing you at a wedding/formal event. Those introductions are brief and informative, so they highlight the accurate strengths and accomplishments that we often ignore/diminish.

Dustin Raymond

Will is a comic genius. I love his character in general. Hope everything is A-oaky.

Dustin Raymond

I believe he will when the teens get in a funk. I'm sure Anthony will do something amazing to surprise us

DanTheWriter

Lives the Patron reveal

Riley Moncur

I loved stilent ball

Spinnaker

So the Doodler is not actually in this world, he's in the process of trying to invade it. That gave me Giygas vibes. Cool reveal.
