Episode 1 of Dungeons and Daddies is actually two recording sessions spliced together. We recorded the original introduction more in the vein of a typical tabletop podcast, and after listening to it, ultimately discarded that in favor of the intro we have now with Darryl picking everyone up in the van. That audio has never been heard... until now!

Listen as we take you on a journey to the first ever recording session of Dungeons and Daddies as we try and get a handle on our characters, and learn about ultimately why this introduction was discarded.

Hopefully this is both interesting and helpful for those of you wanting to run your own campaigns! Learn from our mistakes!

I was literally just thinking yesterday I hope one time they do release the original first session as one of the bonus monthly content.

So this isn’t the original session (I do think that chemistry test might be lost) but it’s close - it’s the first time we sat down to record this podcast in an official capacity and even then, as you can hear, we are still finding our footing

I 100% agree about the intro where everybody just introduces themselves as being so boring. I have tried to start and given up in the first few minutes so many dungeons & dragons podcasts because they start that way and I'm just bored and sitting there like how am I supposed to remember all of this? yeah I'm going to remember the names, class types, and backstories of like 6 new people and I don't even know if I like your story or style of podcast yet. That was a real strong point when I found dungeons and daddies that you just jumped into it.

Ron is so different, the energy is there but not as Ron as it is.

This seems more like an Episode 0 than a mistake! Feels like a lot of podcasts do a “Session Zero” so that everyone can find their footing and get into the groove before doing the official recording.

is this the one where Beth May thought that people wouldn't know that she's a woman?

Whoa man the Dresden files joke was too far. That series is great.

Finally got around to listening to the mbic stuff. I agree this is just a session zero type. Also heavily agree that I hated the idea of four dads in the forgotten realms from our world. In not even sure why I clicked listen but was immediately glad I did. The style you guys went with for that first episode had me solidly hooked and I'm not sure a session zero would have in the same way it has for other podcasts. I do enjoy listening to you guys leveling up and doing some of the more accounting stuff as I think a lot might so don't shy away from a few minutes for that. I know you recently had it in and I was interested.

This was a great listen. I've tried listening to other dnd podcasts and bailed because the intros were too long, confusing, or boring. I probably would have bailed on this podcast, if your into wasn't as succinct and good as it is. It took me a few episodes to get into it but because of the style of the podcast it was easy to stick with.

Ron is no nonsense? Seriously. Lol. Also Morgan Freeman being alive, whoa.

This podcast is so great because it is created by writers and storytellers. The gameplay mechanics support the story, rather than the other way around.
