We discuss the origins of the show, Anthony's reputation as a DM in our friend group, the philosophical utility of a random number generator in storytelling, our own backgrounds in D&D, and a tease of one of many possible futures of this podcast.

Omg Freddie's the best

Was listening to this at work and spit water out my noise in front of the coworkers when Freddie said my name and question. Great content.

My god idk how long each individual campaign will take but this is too much fun for you all to quit too easily xD I say you eventually kickstart a TV show starring yourselves acting out the campaign

Lynsey K

I want the Shadowrun campaign

Thanks for answering my question! I think I'm going to really enjoy the Talking Dad show 😁

Dude, wasn’t expecting the DM tips and tricks but was pleasantly surprised. This was such a great and wholesome listen. I can’t wait for more of these. Thanks for starting the Patreon 💕

Wow I could listen to DnD philosophy all day. Writing and Gaming my two favorite things?! It's funny because my friends love arguing over the strategy of combat and the dms I know have no problem saying no to dumb ideas. I hate it, though I do recognize it as a valid way to enjoy a DnD game. It's the same way you would enjoy a videogame rpg just in board game form with more freedom. I disagree with Freddie though, I love steamrolling enemies because it makes me feel powerful like a superhero. Same reason people play games like the Batman Arkahm or Laura Croft series. It's just a dumb fun power fantasy that fits much better into a DnD format than a video game imo.

dungeonsanddads

That’s fair I prefer my power fantasies in private hidden away in my room in front of a computer uh wait hmm

Does talking dad start at 8 as a joke or am I missing something?

Anonymous

i think it starts at 8 so its in sync with the episodes

Anonymous

You're correct. Most of the podcasts I listen to don't sync the recap episodes with the actual episode numbers so it didn't click with me at first, but I do like that they do this.

So did you catch the step mom cheating?

Ok. I have listened since almost the beginning but just a month ago became a patreon supporter. So now I’m listening to these in order (after finishing ATMOD just in time for the Oakvale episode. I cannot Belive how you are making me love you all even more. I have a response to like every single thing you say. I am really surprised Beth had never played. She is obviously even more brilliant than I even imagined because I never realized that. No fumbling. I started on these types of podcasts with TAZ because I FINALLY AT AGE 50 got to play D&D ; (Until Covid-19 git)in season 3 they are still fumbling occasionally. . Do , not like I actually play much, but I love how the dice shakes p the improv. I tried Magic Tavern and Mission to Sky’zzz they were, well, just improve. All have been so pro and so funny and you got the balance like TAz does but even more Pro. As a female identified human I am so so so glad Beth is there. Not that boys aren’t great.::::)

So, I just finished episode 61, which was (spoilers) a giant freaking emotional rollercoaster, and finally decided to join the patreon. Going to listen to this in order now, to get some more info ... looking forward to it!

This episode was so interesting to me! I think it’s a really good example of like the length and breadth of dnd content available now, like this podcast rlly has the same energy as taz where like the dice are there as an improvisational tool and don’t rlly enjoy the crunchy part vs like Dimension 20 which I feel like marries improve and crunch rlly well so like CR which to me is suuuper crunchy! I honestly enjoy all these types of podcasts and I love how ppl interpret and utilise dnd to their preferences and stories! Anyway I’m rlly enjoying dndaddies (On ep 15 and just subscribed to the patreon) and I’m excited for more >u<

[S2 SPOILER] it's a blast listening to Freddie gush about playing a "mall ninja" guy in 2019, and now he plays Taylor in 2022
