I love these! Have you guys seem The Shack?

Zack Bochman

fuuuuuck just you guys talking about the scene where the little girl told her mom to kill herself to come see her in heaven broke me. I've been tearing up the whole time because of it.

Rebecca D

I've been hoping they'd do that one. Such a "benign" movie in some ways but that scene 3/4 of the way through was so deeply problematic I couldn't get it out of my head...

I love this intro

Laeticia

Jose Alvarez

Kazlyn

Arielle Cuebas

Patiently waiting for you to watch fireproof and courageous

Kaley Maier

it may have already been mentioned but y’all should look into a movie called The Shack. it’s a christian movie but it doesn’t follow the same plot line as the previous episodes haha. i remember it being well produced so it may be a fun choice !!

Alyssa

I’m always impressed by how kind you guys are to these movies! Deserving or not!! ;D but I’d be interested to hear your guys’ analysis on beloved movies like Prince of Egypt!

I've been loving this series as an ex-christian leftist. I think a REALLY fun movie for you guys to watch from this lens is Nefarious. A bit of a change up, a lot of interesting cooked right wing shit to discuss. Obviously not your typical "Christian" movie but when the 'demon' starts talking about 'the carpenter' I thought of you immediately. I think there is some connection to other Christian pro-lofe movie makers so tw as needed

I don't remember if they lose their faith cuz it's been like so long since I've seen the movie but I think fireproof might be interesting to look back on now that I'm not in the church anymore. Because like if I'm thinking about it the only thing is I remember the husband gives the wife a cup of coffee and I was like wow he's really trying and now I'm like oh dude is just a nice cohabiter lol

I hope we get more episodes of this! I really appreciate Matt's sheer knowledge of the dogma, and it helps me understand how some of these "function" as propaganda. Combined with both of your storytelling/narrative knowledge, these are actually really fascinating unpackings of these films, instead of just being a dunkfest. I enjoy the dunking, but the intelligent dunking is really a sweet spot.

Finally caught up with this after a season 2 re-listen. Fascinating conversation about a movie that sounds more interesting than I thought it would be based on the trailer? I will say, if y'all are interested in a fascinating movie about Christianity (Catholicism, really), I would love to hear you discuss Martin Scorsese's film SILENCE, about a pair of missionaries in shogunate Japan. Be warned, it's fuckin brutal.
