On the first Saturday in August this year, the Listener Crossword in The Times featured this puzzle, Citation Needed by Cagey.

There is a lot of talk about this being one of the all-time cryptics, and Mark takes the time to explain, not the clues, but how the preamble was to be interpreted and how the endgame worked, and shows you the solution to the puzzle.

I always enjoy the crossword posts. Any chance that either of you can solve a Paul crossword as I find them impenetrable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. If you ever want to take a swing at something a little different (and more maths-y), Humbug's crossnumber puzzle in Chalkdust Magazine is always a good way to spend a few hours.
