I get that puppet rigging is likely easier, but I personally prefer frame-by-frame if possible.

I mean, hand drawn looks better....but puppet animation is immensely faster. I'd rather have a whole bunch of puppet animations instead of just one or two hand-drawn.

I actually really enjoy puppet animation! Although I definitely think you could have the best of both worlds, keeping most elements puppet but also working in some hand drawn animation possibly! Like hypothetically... a hand-drawn cumshot on a puppet animation😋
