Hello beloved patrons!

Hoping to start a discussion here. I'm looking for the best way to share full chapters with you going forward. If a chapter (for instance, Submission Agenda: Silver Sable) is finished ahead of time, I'd like to make it possible for you to just buy it all at once. And, if possible, I'd like to take care of it all through Patreon.

Here's the process I'm considering right now. For the record, this is basically how I've been handling private commissions for the past year and it's worked so far:

1) A new tier will be introduced for a limited time only at a substantially higher price (say, $25)

2) If you want to buy that chapter, you subscribe to that tier and get charged at the end of the month, as usual. You'd still be able to see Main Feed and EXTRAS posts.

3) Once your pledge has processed (roughly on the first of the month) I'll DM an imgur link to every person who subscribed. At that link, you can view the comic in full and download it as a ZIP.

4) You reduce your pledge back to the standard $5 or $7 amount. Or, I suppose, you might unsubscribe completely since you've paid for the next several months of Main Feed content.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So if I made a new tier available in January, you'd receive your comic, in full, on Feb 1.

What are your thoughts? Does that all make sense?

Is this something you'd be interested in?

Would you take advantage of the opportunity to buy a chapter in full?

Can you think of a way this process could be smoother?

I'm down for something along those lines, but don't you have to wait until the beginning of the month for the new tier to make sense? Otherwise I thought they pro-rate for the remainder of the month and then charge the new fee. I could be wrong. Is there no option for "buy now" in Patreon?

I would buy it if you do that third tier, but you should sell the chapter $1 a page to be much fair, like 16 pages=$16.

pegasusart

Thanks! I'll definitely choose a price for that tier that I think is fair.

pegasusart

I was not aware of that. If I understand what you're saying. I'll look into it further. Thank you!

I would pay for this tier. Good idea.

Chris Davis

Not to be a cheapskate, but would the chapters eventually come out, or only if you pledged to the higher tier?

Kraken

I'm sorry, my monthly pledge is what I can afford. I'm not likely to shell out for extras.

Subjectivity

I'm in it for the long haul, so I'm fine with staying on the higher tier as things gradually come out. Maybe if you dug up some old stuff that's harder to find, and won't ever be distributed at the $5 or $7 tiers? I'm not sure. Maybe if it was a specific comic or project I was really eager for.

Raziel-faustus

it would honestly depend on the comic

pegasusart

That's totally fine! I will continue posting pages weekly in the Main Feed for the foreseeable future for the same rate. Nothing's going to change there.

pegasusart

I hear ya. Things will continue to come out gradually and you'll get all the new comics that way -- just over the span of weeks/months.

pegasusart

No worries! All chapters will eventually come out on the Main Feed. This would just be for patrons who want to buy them all at once/early.

Sherl

Maybe you could try itch.io or gumroad.com to sell your comics by chapter?

diggem

Imgur isn't really that great of an option for those us that don't already have a login. They're asking for your phone number before you can register now and that's not something I'm willing to give them.

Personally, I agree with others who suggested alternative sites such as Gumroad to sell your comics. Having said that, I'd much rather continuously support you as opposed to making a one time payment for specific content. Admittedly, not every single comic you do is always gonna be my cup of tea, but you have far more hits than misses that warrants long term support.

pegasusart

Yep, I'm going to have to find some easier/more convenient way. I can always email full chapters out as ZIPs in special cases.

I'd rather you just release them on patreon for a higher tier, but not 25$
