I love my PC to bits and it has opened so many opportunities for me, but my goodness is it an expensive piece of equipment! I've done digital art for most of my life using a laptop and a drawing tablet (the cheap kind that you just plug in via a usb port). As my skills grew so did the size of my files and the programs I used and, in the end, a cute little laptop just couldn't keep up :'D My partner came to the rescue and built me a PC using some old parts he had lying about! I won't lie, I was extremely sceptical of PC's and fought the idea of getting one for years- I thought they were terribly complicated, time consuming and couldn't do much more than my old laptop, but those views were soon changed! The biggest hurdle was the switch from Mac to Windows!

I've had my PC for almost three years now, and have started noticing that my art and film editing programs are slowing down and crashing- Turns out that the memory, which, granted, is almost seven years old, has started corrupting! On top of that the graphics card, also around six years old now, is terribly underpowered and struggles to keep up with the high demands of being a digital creator :'D

I didn't think much of it, but once I saw the prices of the new parts I would need to keep up my jaw practically hit the ground! I'll have to buy them eventually, but until then I'll be saving up ;D

Fair waring to anyone thinking of buying and building a PC; it ain't cheap but it's worth it, especially as a digital creator!

Do let me know if you use a PC or even built it yourself! I'd love to hear why you chose (or chose not) to built or buy a PC instead of sticking to a laptop <3

I've been building my own PC's since the late 80's. Oops, showing my age. LOL. I like doing so because I can pick and choose every component based on my research, best bang for the buck, and my current needs. As for graphics cards, I did a new build last year and the card I selected was in the sweet spot for best performance per dollar. The price/performance curve gets steep towards the top end. I'll send you some links for my build in a PM here.

I love my laptop and won't let it go. But my husband loves building his own pc and i see it as his (ver expensive) hobby... he can spend hours and hours comparing tiny little black things with wires and it brings him joy. :D

My partner is the same! He loves building PC's and can easily spend days researching even the smallest of parts!
