No, we're not going anywhere, we're just growing bigger. Regular contributors will be joining the Bungacast gang (we know you'll like them!), a new Reading Club will be announced, and a special partnership will kick off in March. As part of this revamp, we will be launching new tiers on here to reflect our expanded and improved coverage of global politics, history and culture.
Full details next week – watch this space!
Coming in March
'Emotion Sickness', our series on feelings, continues with:
- Ashley Frawley on therapy culture
- Alex H on disengagement and withdrawal
- Eva Illouz on populist emotions
- Catherine Liu on trauma
Plus:
- Portugal has been one of the few bright spots for the left. Now its government is challenged by the right-populist Chega. We'll be looking at the country's election.
- Being gay in Mexico, with Roger Lancaster.
- The Reading Club kicks off with Benedict Anderson's classic Imagined Communities.
- The Millennial Left's media problem, with Benjamin Studebaker.
ICYMI
- Indonesia is the biggest country no one talks about. But we're talking about it. We did a pre-election deep dive with Vedi Hadiz and then looked at President Prabowo's transformation with Michael Vann.
- Does locking up 2% of the country work? We covered El Salvador's Bukele and his influence with Nelson Rauda and Juan Rojas (part two, on the wider regional picture here).
- We talked about the '1914' vibes we're getting and fears of regional or global war - and answered your questions, in Aufhebonus Bonus.
- A new series, on the politics of feelings, kicked off with Nina Power. And we also explored the reasons why young men and young women are voting so differently from each other.
Bunga Elsewhere
- Alex took on the failures of the Millennial Left in American Affairs, reviewing books by Vincent Bevins, Anton Jäger & Arthur Borriello, and Chris Cutrone. He also launched his (free) Substack.
- George has a chapter in The Elgar Companion to Antonio Gramsci, published this month. "Gramsci: life and times of a revolutionary " is co-authored with Nathan Sperber.
- In an ongoing debate over Israel/Palestine, Phil has a riposte to Thomas Fazi in UnHerd, making the realist case for Israel.
