Garrisons Coming to a Holiday Near You? +RL Tutorial Event (Patreon)
Content
New Garrison content and mechanics are mostly complete at this point.
This week I was originally considering putting together an article that covers the architecture of merging the usual encounter system with Garrisons, which have always had a different sort of mostly prefab-based procedural generation, but doing so would push the actual prerelease beyond this week, and it was pointed out that the coming weekend is a long one in the US, where some players might want to take advantage of the extra time to die inside Garrisons.
So in an effort to oblige them, I will release a playable version of Beta 12 by the end of this week, including everything I have completed by that point.
Encounters are done, the full range of larger events might not be complete by then (but they're not super common anyway), and there's also new reasons non-RIF builds might want to use Garrisons, among other things you'll see in the changelog or discover during play.
Then I'll get back to that blog post, and finally the main Beta 12 content--this whole Garrison thing turned into quite a detour xD. We're supposed to be getting a new faction here, after all! Instead in that regard the first prerelease so far just includes a new way to interact with an old faction ;)

Learn to Make a Roguelike
Tomorrow over at r/RoguelikeDev we're starting our 6th annual two-month-long event during which a bunch of people can go through a roguelike-making tutorial, or work on their own new small RL projects during the same period.
Join up if interested! Every year some participants use it to make their very first roguelike. Check out the announcement for "RoguelikeDev Does The Complete Roguelike Tutorial" to see a schedule, or an advertisement aimed at a more general audience posted here.
