And here we have some more X8. Most importantly this update includes 1) all the stuff I wanted to release with X8 but decided to release it early instead, and 2) a fix for the non-authchip fabrication system where the changes ended up not being as harsh or consistent as intended due to a bug.

This update does break saves, a lot, so it's on a separate Steam branch, beta_11_x8_2, accessible with the code "FabsUnleashed". DRM-free links are going out automatically to everyone already on that list.

Changelog

Most of the new stuff is centered around Distributed Storage Facilities, and there are some new Trojans, one of which in particular could be... quite interesting. As usual, they can be discovered in game (hint: both in "that base").

  • NEW: Option to output scoresheets in JSON format alongside normal text version (advanced.cfg: scoresheetJson)
  • NEW: Option to output stat dumps in JSON format alongside normal text version (advanced.cfg: statDumpJson)
  • MOD: DSF lockout sound event added to audio log
  • MOD: Limited-function 0b10 Terminals no longer affected by Zion integration
  • MOD: Trojan(Siphon) removed
  • MOD: Heavy class spawn protection range increased from 20 to 24
  • FIX: Updating player metadata from old versions might not always work depending on version differences [Sylvia]
  • FIX: Potential crash during remote shield activation animations if Cogmind outside or near edge of map view [S0ZDATEL]
  • FIX: With enough allies and the right garrison layout, allies might spawn in behind unknown hidden doors or phase walls [Sorrydough]
  • FIX: Remote shield activation animations did not animate rightmost column if map view shifted left to within range of protected area
  • FIX: Fabricator BUILD lockout only sometimes applied if not using an Authchip

And in case you weren't aware of these features yet, a few items were intentionally left off the previous X8 changelog:

  • NEW: "Special Map" (outside regular Complex 0b10, but not a normal branch)
  • NEW: 1 new non-RIF robot hack
  • NEW: 1 new derelict subvariant

Over on the leaderboards you'll also find that the run database (prerelease version) now includes links to not only the text version of scoresheets but also direct links to leiavoia's wonderful Dataminer graphs for each run.

Next up I should probably catch up on some blogging, and tomorrow will be streaming this release to get some experience with the new content myself.

After that I think the next prerelease should finally be the one to focus on finally completing the item rebalancing which Beta 11 was supposed to be mostly about, but has only been happening intermittently so far as we keep overhauling other systems first :P

Update 211111a

Got a new update here for ya on the same Steam branch (and if you got a DRM-free link it'll also work to get the latest one, even though the version number in the archive name was not updated). Saves are compatible with this week's main release, and you'll find a few changes here:

  • NEW: ALERT message associated with DSF lockdown
  • MOD: Assault ALERT announcement more clearly distinguishes singular vs. plural dispatches
  • MOD: New Trojan effect is capped (lore updated)
  • MOD: Preloaded schematics at Fabricators do not cause instant lockdown when hacked to build
  • FIX: Hauler inventory could in rare cases be loaded beyond capacity [Runia]
  • FIX: New Trojan UI reporting might be incorrect in certain situations

Turns out the hauler inventory overflow could lead to a crash if it happens specifically with cargo convoys carrying Authchips ;)

Update 211117a

Another new save-compatible update! (same DRM-free link from earlier, too). Wasn't going to release this stuff now, but Runia found a hotfix-worthy bug that could crashes at Fabricators, so this needed to go out now:

  • MOD: Capped salvage corruption potential due to significant overkill by EM corruption
  • MOD: Reduced resource costs of Gui. EMP Launcher
  • MOD: Improved internal uniqueness of multiprojectile AOE weapon signatures to prevent overlapping explosions from sometimes inflicting less damage
  • FIX: Stasis links could persist through newly repaired walls if neither attacker nor victim moved [Runia]
  • FIX: New Trojan algorithm triggering does not show message or play audio if victim is out of sight
  • FIX: Combat log did not always correctly report shielding part critical block effects
  • FIX: Potential crash on accessing a Fabricator with an active Authchip but no schematic already loaded

There was also a fix in the extended game in relation to a certain, uh, regeneration mechanic.

Another fine update. Can’t wait to play this one on stream this week thanks Kyz! Glad to see bug fixes and tune ups alongside fun new features :)

Yeah wish there was more, but had to release this as a separate thing to just finish up X8 first. Will finally stream it myself, too, now that it's done and time to really test out and talk about some of these new features.
