To all our new Patrons; WELCOME! Here's what's been going on in our lives the past month! If nothing else make sure you check out the info at the bottom on our Live Streamed Show coming in 2 weeks! We hope to 'see' you all 'there'!

From Adal (Dr. Recommendations):

Jemma, Brisket, Fries and myself are all settled in our new house! It's wild to suddenly have so much space. The kippies are losing their goddamned minds zooming around every single room. We're slowly getting all the necessary furniture and odds/ends we need. I've aged about 10 years in the process so I'm now 78 years old. I'm STILL trying to come up with a good name for the tiki bar we're making in the basement! Send me over ideas and maybe I'll do like a bracket for the best names. I'm also decorating and setting up an office in the basement so if you have any tips for things to add or neat decor/furniture PLEASE let me know! I'll try and share pics of my progress if possible!

In other news I'm working on a cool thing with one of my all-time favorite actors! Hoping it all goes well and sees the light of day! Also doing some corporate improv gigs with Erin and JPC thanks to friends working at cool companies looking to bring in some entertainment; excited to explore that in the Zoom era!

Some important things to mention are

1. Jemma has been using an app called SMULE to sing and duet with folks from all over the world. She's obsessed with it, so you should get on board and sing a song with her please! Her user name is jemmycat328 or you can just go to Smule.com/jemmycat328

2. I have several upcoming podcast workshops (over Zoom) I'm doing if you know anyone who might be interested!

Two are one-offs with Queen City Improv Theater in Charlotte, NC. Links here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/comedy-podcasting-workshop-w-adal-rifai-tickets-123064564425 and here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/improvising-podcast-ideas-w-adal-rifai-tickets-123069264483

and one is a 3 week workshops with Third Coast Comedy Theater in Nashville, TN. Link here: https://www.thirdcoastcomedy.club/shows.html?page=event&eid=47172

Again all workshops will be conducted over Zoom so  you can participate from home!

3. For October, if you're looking for spooky movies I HIGHLY recommend The Witch, Hereditary, The Thing and REC. if you haven't seen them!

Here's what I've been consuming:

TV:

- PEN15 season 2 on HULU: if you haven't seen the first season of this please binge it and start the new season. Truly brilliant.

- Fargo season 4 on HULU: the first three seasons of this are some of my favorite all-time tv! This season has 2 episodes out so far. It's incredibly promising!

- The Boys season 2 on HULU: Insanely entertaining but about as violent and dark as tv gets. I recommend but only if that's your jam. Look for Jemma's cousin who plays 'Gecko' and has one of the funniest scenes of the series!

- Chef's Table BBQ on Netflix: Can't wait to travel again and eat all dis fooood

- Ramy season 2 on HULU

Movies:

- Suspiria: I had never seen this before and watched it for a podcast I guested on. Hot fuck this is maybe the most beautifully shot movie I've ever seen! The acting is paiiiinfully bad but it's worth watching especially after an edible or two!

- I'm Thinking of Ending Things on Netflix: absolute fever dream of a film by Charlie Kaufman.

- Enola Holmes on Netflix: original movie about the youngest Holmes sibling making her way into the family business. I enjoyed this film but have since been told by people who are vastly more intelligent and thoughtful than me that it's deeply flawed/problematic and does a terrible job of depicting female characters. So I don't know if I'd recommend it but I watched it so it goes on the list!

Books:

Haven't gotten any reading done this month due to the move BUT I just picked up Matt Haig's newest book 'The Midnight Library' and can't wait to dig in! His book The Humans, I've mentioned as one of my all-time favorites.

Board Games:

- Puns of Anarchy. Are you at all surprised I love this game? Please buy it and invite me to a game!

Podcasts:

There's a podcast that Jeffrey Cranor just turned me onto based on my love of Sleep No More. It's called Imaginary Advice and is just wonderful. I'd recommend starting with their Sleep No More parody episodes which are episodes 70 & 71 and titled Sex and The City: The Return. Let me know what you think of them!

I've guested on a couple podcasts since moving if you want to check those out!

- MEGA podcast where I played a 'repo man' (a man who re-posses souls who have been possessed by the devil)

- The Restricted Section. This is my second time guesting with them and I'd go back a hundred times more. In this episode we discuss 'The Rogue Bludger' chapter from Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.

- If I Were You. Erin, JPC and Myself were guests on Jake & Amir's podcast last week! It's our second time on the show and they're always a gd blast so please check out the episode!

- Random Number Generator Horror Podcast No. 9. Wonderful podcast hosted by Jeffrey Cranor and Cecil Baldwin from Welcome To Nightvale! We discuss the movie Suspiria on my episode which I believe will be out in late Oct or early Nov! Look for my episode and catch up on the podcast during this spooky season!

Lastly I wanted to promote something our improv friends at Devil's Daughter have been concocting. They started their own podcast network and you should check out their shows! Full info and links below:

Introducing the Devil's Daughter Podcast Network. Created by a team of  Chicago improvisers and comedians, the network features a growing roster  of comedy podcasts like Experience the World, a guided auditory  experience of pre-quarantine activities like baseball and  kissing--narrated by Brad Pike,  and Talking Shop, in which James Dugan and Rob Grabowski sit down with a  member of the Chicago comedy community to discuss life, comedy, and  everything in between. Find Devil's Daughter on facebook and instagram  for more information.

From Erin:

Hey everyone!

I’ve  been too busy to really watch anything (other than Pen15. I sobbed the  entire time) or listen to new music so I don’t have anything to offer  this month but I have a question for YOU! Do you know anyone who makes  custom lampshades? Or just lampshades? I bought a vintage lamp last week  and it’s literally(no pun intended) the light of my life right now.  Trying to pay a small business for a really interesting lampshade!

Thanks  guys! What a lame entry into this newsletter. I’m really really looking  forward to the live show this month. It feels really special to bring  listeners from all over the world together. I’ll probably joy cry a  couple of times! Don’t try to stop me!

Love always

Erin

From JPC:

September is in the books, and I was *in the books* in September! I read  the first two books of The Broken Earth Trilogy and I'm no the third  one now. No spoilers! I also read The Tragedy of American Science which I  highly recommend and A Brief History of Commercial Capital which I do  not highly recommend unless you are into really academic texts on  capital! Book 4 of Stormlight Archive comes out 11/17, so I'm psyching  myself up by reading the Edgedancer novela right now too!

For  video games, I finished Ghost of Tsushima (platinum, baby!) which was a  very fun game. Except for some shitty camera angles in combat, I had no  complaints. The plot can get pretty dark/heavy, but the landscapes are  absolutely breathtaking and the free-climbing shrines are a blast. I  also just started Hades and I'm hopelessly addicted. Most fun game I've  played in a long time. You can pick it up on Steam or Switch for $25  which is an incredible value. For those who want to watch me play games  and hang out in the Shark Tank (twitch.tv/sharkbarkman), I'm trying out a new stream schedule for October. All times in Central time.

Monday: 10am-2pm

Wednesday: 10am-2pm

Friday: 8pm-11pm

Mariah  and I got free HBO Max for changing internet providers and we instantly  found Search Party. It's so good. We burned through the first season  but then slowed way down because season 2 and 3 are so stressful that I  can only watch 1 episode at a time and then I need a break. Highly  recommend you check that out. We also started watching Lovecraft Country  and gave up like 4 episodes in. Not for us! I finally finished Season 5  of Better Call Saul. I think I might like it better than Breaking Bad!  Very excited for the 6th and final season. That might be it for TV. For  movies, we watched Ready Or Not (I think it came out last year?) and it  was good! I can't remember where we watched it, so it might already be  gone from streaming.

Shameless plug to listen  to the Billbuds Podcast! We have 4 episodes out now and we just reviewed  Justin Bieber's 'My World 2.0.' I've also been listening to some  podcasts! If you are looking for some lefty pods and are looking for  good entry point episodes, check out the Antifada podcast's series  'History is a Weapon' with Matt Christman. Some good materialist  analysis of historical events and their latest one is about Qanon. Also  enjoying the new collaboration from Virgil Texas and Briahna Joy Gray,  the Bad Faith podcast. That podcast has like 5 episodes so you can start  from the beginning. I also just became a Patron of The Discourse  Podcast (not sure how much of their stuff is behind the paywall) but I  really enjoy that as well. As long as you don't mind pretty awful  production value, which I can forgive because I like their politics.

Thanks  to everyone who gave such a great response to the Guided Meditation.  Casey worked so hard on the audio editing and really produced the hell  out of that thing. I'm so proud with how it came out and I'm overjoyed  that people seemed to enjoy it! No plans to do more right now, but if we  ever do, I'll let you all know.

Oh, and  for the past 6 months I've been doing a bi-weekly Magic The Gathering  Cube draft with some friends and friends-of-friends. In that entire 6  months I've never had a losing record except for this week. I drafted  mono-red aggro and got my ass absolutely handed to me. I don't know wtf I  was thinking. I never draft aggro. This is such an embarrassment for  me. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it to 4,000 people!

Other Stuffs:

1. October Review Crew & Zoom Recording:  Our recording schedule got a little messed up in October, which means  our RC and monthly zoom recording won't drop until the 2nd week of  October. Sorry about the delay! We will put up the poll soon!

2. 'Somebody  That You Used to Know' Parody: We are working on it! We have a draft of  the lyrics and we have enlisted the assistance of musical genius Arne  Parrot to help us with the music, but his workload is a bit on the full  side right now (good for him!) so it's taking a little longer than  anticipated. We hope to have a final version this month.

3. Livestream  show!!: Our upcoming Livestream show is 10/13 at 8pm and tickets are $15. We get  to do 75-90 minutes and since there is a live chat, we will be able to  take riddles from the audience and you'll be able to chat throughout the  show! You can watch from anywhere in the world and if you get a ticket,  you can view the stream for up to 24 hours after. This one probably  won't be on Patreon for a long while due to the content agreement we  signed with the third party so grab a ticket if you're interested! https://audiotree.tv/staged-show/hey-riddle-riddle

4. New Stretch Goals: We are working on them! If there are things you'd like to see as stretch goals, please let us know! As of now we have this one...When we reach 4200 Patrons we will do a part 2 of High Riddle Riddle! 4200 baybee! Smoke em if you smoke em!

What have you all been up to?! Let us know your recommendations in the comments!

love,

Adal, Erin & JPC

Personally, I’d subscribe to a higher patreon tier for more JPC Meditations!

Has Rifai-Tais been considered as a bar name?

My husband and I have been watching Raised By Wolves on HBO Max and it's unlike anything I've ever watched before. I highly recommend it. I'm working my way through Pose season 2 and I can't believe I slept on it so long. Plus I've been watching some feel-good teen shows including The Babysitters Club and Julie and the Phantoms.

Re decor: How do you feel about dinosaurs, Adal? My museum has some neat stuff* and I'm feeling frivolous if you want a thing. *Up to, but not included in my offer sorry, a bronze statue of a Muttaburrasaurus for like AU$1000 or something. And also including the worst jigsaw puzzle in the world.

I didn't know that you played Magic JPC! I would definitely love to watch you stream some drafts or something on Twitch.
