Getting Started with Feminine Media (Patreon)

With so much to watch, listen to, read, and interact with, feminine media is a fast and ever changing world and getting started with it is as easy as picking up your phone. Today I want to talk about social media, magazines, and classic must-see shows and movies to add to your feminine repertoire.

Social Media
For millennials and younger, social media isn’t just a one app community, it’s an integral part of social life that most grew up with. So understanding the importance of having an internet presence is something ingrained into younger gens as completely necessary in modern life, but likely brushed off in older gen communities.

I tend to see that those who are transitioning a bit later in life may have no real online presence other than Facebook, or a professional LinkedIn, and if they’re really tech-savvy, maybe even a FetLife or Twitter, but beyond that, they aren’t engaging much online. With so many huge social media sites like Pintrest, Instagram, TikTok, tumblr, twitch, discord, reddit and more popping up every day, it can be tough to get started when you aren’t quite sure where to begin.

I suggest creating a separate femme profile for yourself in your favorite app so that you can have a safe feminine space to express your femininity online. Create a new instagram and only follow feminine influencers and fashion or beauty companies, only post photos when dressed femininely (check out Getting Started with Selfies) and use this profile for more feminine inspiration. Pintrest is a great tool for style inspo and you can even listen to your favorite hypnotic files and let yourself go wild on a board. I find that revisiting these boards can also help you define your personal style by inspiring you to try some of the pins you see!

Classic Must-Sees
Of course there are tons of ultra feminine shows, from hobby and gardening shows to trashy reality TV, there is a never-ending supply of feminine shows to watch.

My top three classic must sees:

Scripted shows: Broad City, Sex & the City, Gilmore Girls
Competition reality: Ru Paul's Drag Race, Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model
Hobby: The Great British Bake Off, The Repair Shop, The Great Pottery Throw Down
Makeover: Queer Eye (new), Queer Eye (original), What Not to Wear
Trashy Reality: Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives, Vanderpump Rules

Magazines
While magazines are kind of out-dated at this point, with most of us getting our style ideas, news, and celebrity gossip from the internet, I still really love having a few magazines around to flip through whenever I am in an idle moment, waiting for the oven to preheat or during commercial/ad breaks. There are a ton of ways to still use magazines, and I often find myself cutting out strips of images I like in order to use them as bookmarks. I also love journaling, both as a self-reflection tool and as feminine penmanship practice, and I love taping/gluing fun things I cut out of magazines, making little collages that fit my mood for the day. There is also something so fun and “teen girl” feeling about laying on your stomach with your feet in the air, flipping through a glossy magazine as you wait for your freshly painted nails to dry.

I subscribe to a few magazines, mostly hobby magazines that focus on a few specific feminine hobbies that I like, modern home design, gardening, cooking, etc. But my favorite fashion magazines that I always suggest getting are Vogue, Glamour, and Elle. I really love Vogue for the haute couture and expensive bougie fashion styles that I feel keep me on trend even if I know I may never buy these items for myself. Glamour and Elle I like for the more affordable and realistic fashion and beauty products.

Get out there, don’t be afraid to try something new and immerse yourself in all things femme!
