Hey everyone!

This idea of an angel crashed into a coral reef was one that Peku had about 18 months ago and we finall thought this month was the right time to make it!

We thought it would make for an interesting biome and an exciting moment for your party to stumble upon. What happened here? Why has this celestial crashed to earth?

We've also added a transparent version with just the skeleton for those of you that asked! You can download that here.

For those curious, here's the original sketch:

(you can also see part of the original sketch for our Annis Hag Lair.

We don't often show off our process but we do get a lot of questions about it. Most of the ideas start from just free sketching on real paper and seeing what comes out.

We recognize this may be a bit niche for some campaigns so there's plenty of generic variations in there too that'll be useful, including desert, arctic, cove and coral reefs.

Enjoy! :)

So so cool and so many great variations! Btw have y’all ever considered making a generic random encounter battle map (like a playground of the mind style battle map just to place tokens on?)

Chris Lontok

Holy crap! That's stunning! It literally took my breath away! I'm going to include it in my next game!!

Maximilien Bianchi

What a stunning piece of art. This could be framed

czepeku

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this but we've made over 4000 variations now, some are very generic fields and forests. You might be able to find what you're looking for here: https://www.czepeku.com/

Nolan Childerhose

This is the kind of map that campaigns can be built around.

Haha, my apologies. My comment wasn't very descriptive. To be more specific, I meant something like a fantasy/magical holodeck or simulated, symmetric arena. I'm currently using a variation of your Opulent Ballroom map for more generic encounters (also a very beautiful map) and it works very well!

Savian

Very neat! I'm glad you guys made a giant variation, angels aren't a thing in my homebrew campaign but luckily giants are! I also wanted to ask your guys' thoughts on making landing pages or maybe even image assets for landing pages? I currently make my own but it would be amazing to use the beautiful quality of your style as a start for every session. Also wanted to mention that I think you have a title error on your variation display picture. There is a part that says 'Blood Angel and Chrome Calamity' above the fallen angel title. But as always, great work!

Marianne Rogers

Soooooo,,, when are you going to partner with Displate or some other print company so us map nerds can casually hang your stuff on our walls and try to pass it off as Totally Normal Adult Decor™?

It's so cool to see the original sketches!!

Alex J Waddington

I'm totally adding the fog variant to Strahd and, as with many areas in Barovia, have no explanation for it.

Legengerry

Am I the only one, or does that skeleton look like a pirate? With the island as a big hat.

Gosh your maps are inspiring for story-making all their own!

Kal

That moment when you change the end of your campaign prologue and use a battle map to better evoke imagination. This is why the Mabar Manifest zone exists here, this is where the remnants of the Bone Tree must be set ablaze to prevent the zones expansion.... I effin love these maps. Thanks Cze and thanks Peku. Inspiring.

Ren

Just beautiful.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out, I'll get that fixed. We've had requests before for landing pages. It's something we can think about but we're already very busy with map work. I think our Bag of Holding map would make for a good landing page though.

czepeku

We're actively looking into printing at the moment. Mostly for useable battlemaps but we have had requests for years for game room decor, like wall scrolls, so maybe we'll do this! It'd be great to know our work is hanging on people's walls.

Kat Um

This is gobsmackingly beautiful. Too cool for words.

Camden Holck

Can you guys add the names back to the files again?

czepeku

What do you mean? The names should be on all the files and folders as usual.

Asherett

A very humble request here - could you attempt to be consistent in whether you include the name of the map as a folder inside the zip? It seems now that when a map has 2 parts, you don't include a folder with the map's name (the zips contain folders simply called "Gridless" (e.g.)). While next map, Fortified Dam, has a folder called (e.g.) "Fortified Dam [36x58] - $5 Rewards (Gridless)" inside the zip. Hopefully you understand what I mean. The problem is when I just download the zip files to my czepeku folder and unzip them, I end up with a ton of maps in a folder called "Gridless", unless I manually make map folders.

czepeku

They are consistent and we're sticking with the same style as we have been for years, this was just a mistake. I'll make sure the files are updated properly.

Krystal Stoll

Beautiful!! Now i just have to figure out where to put it. Are there angels in Theros?
