Hey everyone! :)

We've made around 22 new variations on our old maps using train tracks and Eberron lightning rails, to accompany the train carriages and stations we've made.

We've never released a paid map pack solely of variations before, so we wanted to gather the community's opinion before doing so.

If people want us to release them here as one of our 4 monthly packs then vote Yes.

If not, vote No and we'll put them solely on our Roll20/DriveThruRPG marketplaces.

Edit: As it seems to have caused confusion, the maps are all finished and ready to go. The work has been done on them already.

We've added a few below so you can see examples:

I'd love to see a map of a train track on a bridge

SeedsMyth

See the best part is we win either way >:D Any maps are wonderful!

These look awesome, and for me at least there is going to be a lot of trains in my current campaign so these will help alot.

André Codo

If its going to launch here at patreon it should be tons of different variants to make it worth it!

Devin Brown

I would rather see you make a donation tier for people who want train maps. I have no use for them in a fantasy setting. If you make new maps, then train variations are fine, but recycling old ones doesn't do a thing for me.

It was great fun literally "railroading" my players, adding some snowpiercer, murder on the orient, train heist vibe to DND really played well. My train was filled entirely with ghosts and it worked great.

czepeku

That's why we wanted to put it to a poll. With the size of our audience, every map we release will be useful to some and not for others.

Taylor

Yeah I’m in the same boat as a lot of others. When would I ever use a train map in 5e or 2e. However if the people want it, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

czepeku

I suppose for Eberron, Steampunk or Wild West campaigns mostly.

Anonymous

I particularly would like to see more 5e Eberron lightning rail maps, rail bridges, station houses, Mournland ruined lines and stations.

Anonymous

Yes, I love the maps and I can see how there are many who can find use for trains in their setting. However, for my campaign the trains maps have very little use. Thank you for checking with us. I appreciate that.

czepeku

Ruined lines is a good idea, maybe I can add some more variations of ruined lines. There's some bridges in this pack and stations too.

Anonymous

I love these, gives us the ability to tie into the train maps youve already created.

Von Recklinghausen

I’m running a Zeitgeist campaign (which btw is amazing for anyone looking for a 5e campaign to run), and these maps are awesome. We’re headed toward a big ambush on your train concourse map, and more maps that integrate tracks/stations into them would be hugely useful!

Anonymous

I backed you for the type of maps that are more tricky to find so this sort of thing would get my personal vote

Anonymous

Perhaps a limited edition. But, I would basically paying nothing. I play DnD exclusively, and train tracks through a city does not work

Anonymous

Your train carriages and lightning rail tracks have been a huge part of my campaign so far. Having maps which accommodate train tracks really enrich that pool, totally in favour. Especially with variants which replace the tracks for those who aren't featuring trains!

Anonymous

Push comes to shove, I'll say, "Hey, that's just a road." If possible, can roads be a variant? I want my train brethren to have maps, too.

Anonymous

If I can throw my hat in the ring: personally I don't need them per se, buuuuuuut, animated rail maps and carriages are quite rare to find (in high quality). So maybe combine those new animation ambitions with a track redesign of older maps?

Anonymous

I like that idea, I'd personally never use rails in my campaign but if they all came with road/path variants then this is the best of both worlds.

Warren Fear

I'm gonna echo others and say train maps are cool, but Im not likely to use them, having train variants or road maps or viseversa seems like a great idea though.

Christen Sowards

I like them but a variant with train/road options would be more usable to me more often?

Anonymous

I’m planning one my next Ravenloft session, which will basically be a train Murder mystery. I’m seriously envisioning to animate the track and background under my selection of train cars. Running a complete ala Agatha Christie & horror monsters would be great with a little bit of animation!

czepeku

As people are asking about it on the Discord: The maps are finished already. We've made them all. We just want to know if people want us to release them here.

Kevin

If you don't release them here, please make them available more than Roll20. DTRPG is fine, but so many things are released only Patreon or Roll20 and as someone who doesn't use Roll20 that's useless to us.

Sammo

I love the road variant option on these. For me that would make this an absolute yes! (Voted yes anyway even though I don’t use trains because feels fair to folks that do)

Anonymous

I would love these for my Torg: Eternity campaign. Hard to find good quality railroad maps in general, and almost impossible in non-realistic settings.

Anonymous

This is really splitting the fandom

Anonymous

I'm doing a post-apocalyptic campaign and I've been wanting more train track and destroyed city maps, so I think these are great and would be really helpful to me!

Anonymous

As someone at the highest reward subscription tier that's a big fan of your artwork and high fantasy settings such as Eberron I'd be a little hurt to not receive them here and likely wouldn't ever buy them on Roll20 or DriveThruRPG but that's just my opinion. I don't think it's something that needs an overwhelming vote either as it seems atleast half of the subscribers do want these variants but again just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Anonymous

I appreciate that others here have said they are helpful, but they don't fit with my (and many) fantasy settings and I can't see myself ever using them. I also feel like adding in some tracks yourself might be relatively easy on photoshop or Roll20 and I'd much rather see some cool new maps which I could never hope to make myself...

Anonymous

You are one of the few map makers who make Eberron-specific content, which is a major reason I support you guys. My group LOVES how your maps bring the world to life and give it that special “you’re-not-in-a-generic-fantasy-universe” feel. Please keep the Eberron variants coming!

Anonymous

Heck yeah! I'd especially like more of the "fiendish" variations that showed up in one of the other railway related packs - I'd love to do a sight-seeing tour (by way of a lightning-rail) of the nine hells, so that kind of thing would be dope.

Ogo Sylla

Big fan of Eberron settings and to have more maps for stories focused on House Orien would be awesome!

Gaëtan Perrault

You have a lot of Eberron fans (including me) and the lightning rail is an important centerpiece for many parts of Khorvaire. The flavor and elements are definitely valuable.

Anonymous

I'd really like the train tracks themselves as an asset with transparent backgrounds, including some curves, breakages and different track types. Then I can make any map with trains!

Anonymous

Would love to see more Eberron-type maps in general. Some Sharn city maps would be incredible!

Von Recklinghausen

Any recommendations for a train map with tracks running through a snowy mountain pass? My players are planning a train assault where the train passes through an isolated mountain range, and I'm struggling to even find a good mountain pass map to add tracks to... Any ideas?

Paul O'Grady

Yes! My new Campaign is eberronesque with emerging tech including magic driven trains, this would be super useful!

Jae Augustus

Even though I voted no, I'm always excited to see what y'all come up with :) I might just have to use them in my campaign!

Darth Kay'Tahna

I would love to see more extraplanar maps. Maps of locations in the Astral Sea, the Feywild, the Shadowfell, etc.

Erik Bennett

I'm totally interested. Love your content. I'll eat it up.
