If you're reading this and don't find the answer to your query, please join our Discord and ask there. It's a very friendly community! Or if you're struggling to join the Discord send us a message here on Patreon. :)

Q. Where can I get my maps?
A. Here’s a link to the Ancient Map Room. It serves as an archive for all our maps so far. We update it each week with the newest maps.

Q. Okay, but is there an easier way of searching the maps?
A. Yes! We have a website that allows you to look through all the maps and variations visually as well as to search by name, tag and theme.

Q. The link to the zip file isn't working for me, how can I get the map?
A. I'm not sure why this happens but sometimes the links to the zips don't work for some patrons, usually at the start of the month. All the zip files are contained in these master posts:

$1 tier Master Post

$3 tier Master Post

$5 tier Master Post

Q. Do I have to download $1, $3, and $5 rewards to get all of the maps?
A. Nope! The $5 zip contains all of the $1/$3 tier maps and the $3 zip contains all the $1 tier maps. So you just need to download the zip at your tier.

Q. How do I connect to discord?
A. This link is the official documentation on how you can connect your Patreon account to your Discord account. If you follow those steps and still can’t connect feel free to send us a message.

Q. Am I charged each time I download a map?
A. Nope! Once you're a patron you can download as many maps as you like free of charge. You're only charged when we release new map packs. That usually happens 3-5 times per month.

Q. What VTTs can I use your maps on?
A. Any! Roll20 is the traditional option but you can see our work featured in the videos for Foundry VTT, Let's Role VTT and EncounterPlus VTT for some in-use examples. Even this indie-VTT works with our maps.

Our maps are now pre-setup with walls, doors and lighting for Foundry VTT for $10 patrons and EncounterPlus VTTs for our $5+ patrons.

Q. Do you recommend a specific VTT?
A. We're helping to develop our own VTT: Alchemy RPG so we recommend that one! It's free and we believe has better options and useability than any other VTT. But depending on your group you might want something else:

- Largest community: Roll20
- Lots of customization but higher barrier to entry: Foundry VTT
- Mobile device specific: EncounterPlus
- Free and easy to use: Owlbear Rodeo

Q. Are your maps printable?
A. Yes! We provide special printable PDFs for our $5+ patrons here. Our recommendation is to take the files to a printshop as they will know how best to print the maps but depending on your printer its possible to print over several regular sheets at home too. Here is a selection of photos we've been sent by our patrons.

Q. What is the map release schedule?
A. We aim to make 4 to 5 maps per month. We semi-regularly post map polls of suggestions taken from the community. The poll will run for 2 or 3 days before the winner is decided.

Q. Where can I suggest map ideas?
A. You can make your suggestion in the #map-suggestion channel on Discord, or in an message to us here on Patreon.

Q. What sort of map ideas can I suggest?
A. We prefer map suggestions to be fantasy themed but any historical (or pre-historic) time period is fine with us, as is any setting (arctic, desert, urban, underdark, fey, etc.). The majority of our community here are DnD players and will likely vote for something that they can use.

We often get suggestions like 'Elf City' but that scale would take us months to complete, 'Elf Market' or 'Elf Blacksmith' is more like something we can complete. Don't worry if your idea is outlandish, those are often the most exciting maps to make and to play! If you want huge urban maps we suggest you check out our project Borough Bound. Which was created for that purpose.

P.S. for the poll, we prefer suggestions that can be summed up in 2/3 words like 'Zen Monastery' or 'Underdark Drow Manor'.

Q. Can I suggest sci-fi themed maps?
A. For sci-fi DMs and players we created a project called Czepeku Sci-Fi that specializes in sci-fi battlemaps, spaceships and other vehicles.

Q. How many maps can I suggest?
A. As many as you want! But we prefer if you suggest only one a week. If all our patrons suggest a couple of maps each we'll have thousands on the poll. For that same reason we only carry over the top runners-up each week onto the next poll, to make room for new suggestions.

Q. There's a __MACOSX folder in the zip file, what is it?
A. It's not something to worry about, if you're a Mac user you won't even see it. It's created automatically whenever a Mac creates a zip file. Just extract everything from the other folder and you will have all the content for that weeks maps. For a more detailed explanation of what the MACOSX folder actually is you can see here.

Q. Where can I find you on social media?
A. Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Instagram and Facebook.

Q. Are you open for commissions?
A. Sorry but no! We work full time on the Patreon now and we aren't taking any other work.

Q. Can I use your maps in a commercial project, like a supplement sold on DMs Guild?
A. Yes! But make sure to follow the rules set out in our commercial licence see here.

Q. Can I use the maps on our livestream or DnD live play?
A. Yes you can! We've got no problem with people using the maps for their livestreamed games, please just give us a shoutout during the show or in the comments.

Q. Where is the Room of Answers?
A. It's right here, inside this free mini-map:

Little confused about the charging system still, sorry if it's a dumb question! As a patron, do I have access to all the older maps in my tier or do I pay per map I download?

Farid

sorry if this has been answered before, but is there a directory on what are the dimensions of the maps are for virtual tabletop use such as roll20? if not, could it be considered as an option? thank you!

czepeku

What do you mean? I don't fully understand the question but I could look into it for you.

Farid

oh sorry, i wrote that question at a very late hour haha! i meant like for example a map by roll20 standards have each grid box be 70x70 pixels, and measures maps by the dimensions say 20boxes by 40 boxes (20x40). do the maps have resolutions of that? i use gridded maps exclusively bc of it!

czepeku

No worries, I know that feeling! So Roll20 uses 70x70px grids but recommends that maps are made at 140x140px grid size. So each of our maps that would be 10x10 grid size is 1400x1400 pixels. I hope that makes sense. So to fit to Roll20 standards, you just have to set the map to 50% in scale. Let me know if that doesn't quite answer the question.

Farid

no that answers the question just fine! thank you so much for taking the time <3 just needed a quick guide on how to set it on roll20 is all! keep on keeping on with these wonderful maps :D

czepeku

No worries! Let me know what the results are. We're always happy to see screenshots of our maps in-use. If you have any more questions, there's a lot of other users on the Discord who might be able to share some tips.

gui8312

Hello Cze and Peku :) quick question - any gridless versions of this map? and of the ancient map room?

czepeku

Unfortunately not, I don't think i even have the source file of those two maps anymore, they were just meant to be little easter eggs. But this map https://www.patreon.com/posts/magic-wizards-24767819 is lots of rooms like these, but in gridded/ungridded.

gui8312

OK, I understand :) gonna sift though the rooms then hehe

Amaury

Helloooo. I just became a Patron and love your art. Just a quick question : are your maps printable ?? Because I don't know how to do with .jpg. For example, Neutral Party gives us a .pdf file with which I can print in "Poster" format (which gives me 12 sheets, but I can put them together). Thank you for your answer. :)

czepeku

We are working on providing something like that! Sorry we haven't sorted it out yet.

Dermot McLaughlin

Do you provide separate assets for these maps? I'd love to make use of your artwork in maps I make for my players.

czepeku

We usually just provide the maps, for certain releases we've made creature tokens and for the City Streets map we provided some interior props alongside empty buildings.

siliconsaint

I would love to get an update on this! I wish to print & laminate the Skyship and Lightning Rail maps for regular use at our Eberron table, but have no idea how to get that done with these (beautifully) huge image files.

Sergio Gonzalez

I don't know if this has been answered anywhere else, but I'd like to ask you guys something related to the per-pack model you've chosen for your amazing artwork: If I do select to put a monthly limit on my pledge, will I be locked out of any other posts that you make at the tier that I pledge at for that month? Thanks in advance.

czepeku

Technically no, but we do try to crack down on people who have it limited to 1 limit as its unfair on those who have it set to 3. 3 is the most maps we've made per month and we'll keep it that way and would prefer patrons to limit it to that much.

Sergio Gonzalez

Thanks for the quick and prompt answer! I was considering whether to raise my pledge to 10$ monthly, but instead I will be moving the limit to the 3 that it should be.

czepeku

Thanks Sergio, I appreciate that! It's a complicated issue so i'm glad you bothered to ask. There are definitely some strange things you can do with Patreon. For example, $3 tier x 3 = $9, so it'd be better for us if people just went to the $10 tier and limited to 1 per month. We'd get $1 more and they'd get a lot more maps. The only issue with that is that it makes it really not worth it for us to make multiple maps per month as we'd be getting all the income on the first map. Right now we make about half as much for each subsequent map we release because so many people have limited to 1 or 2 per month.

Brad Reidy

I tried to bring one of the maps into my editing software (Affinity Photo) in order to downsample the resolution to make the file size smaller for Roll20. However the file won't open properly in my software for some reason. Have you put something into your files to prevent editing?

czepeku

Nope! I've not used Affinity Photo but i don't see why it shouldn't open the jpgs. Other patrons have edited some of the maps so i know it's possible!

Brad Reidy

Thanks for the reply. Something weird is happening in my software then. Love your maps. Cheers.

AyuVince

Do you allow editing maps for personal use? For example when a map depicts something that does not fit the encounter, such as a staircase or maybe a monster that does not fit the tone of the campaign. Would it be ok to remove that in Photoshop?

czepeku

Yeah of course! In fact some of our patrons have shared some of the edits they've made. Some have completely mashed together several of the maps. Go wild!

K Strobes

Hey there, I'm relatively new to this patreon and i'm a little confused on the pricing. I am paying 1 dollar per map pack, but I just got charged 4 dollars at the end of the month, even though i didn't download any of this months maps. Also I linked my discord to patreon but can't find your server. Thanks for all that you do!

Mirriky

It's $1 per map pack, and 4 map packs per month, so $4 all up This link "should" take you to the server if you are already a member (not an invite, and not tested) https://discord.com/channels/561938910901567522 If it says you aren't might be worth asking patreon / discord support

Rambles

Is there somewhere in the patron to get access to the tokens you have on Roll 20 or is that a Roll 20 exclusive thing?

czepeku

Unfortunately not, those tokens were something we did before any of the maps and they're solely available through Roll20.

Tatiana Rodriguez

Is there a way to pay an extra one-time fee to get a single map that is released in a higher tier pack?

czepeku

Unfortunately not, although we are add a store to our website soon, so you'll be able to do it there. Patreon doesn't have that sort of capability.

James Long

Might want to edit that bit about FoundryVTT maps

Thomas schultz

hey!! new here. Is there a way to download a HEX gridded map??

czepeku

None of our maps come with hex grids, but i would use the gridless maps and overlay the hex grid of your choice.
