Salt Plains Observatory [33x46] (Patreon)

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the Salt Plains Observatory! We worked on this map in collaboration with our friends at Borough Bound for their final 12th release of Elseridge Academy, the Magic School at the End of the World!

This fort sits around a dozen miles from Elseridge. Created by a cabal of extradimensional entities, it's enchanted so that only those who already know it is there will see it. Young Warlocks can learn forbidden magicks here from their chosen masters without being watched by the prying eyes of moralising Elseridge Professors.

You can obviously use the Salt Plains Observatory however you like within your stories, this is just the original idea to fit within the world of Elseridge Academy. It could be the lair of a desert monarch, a well fortified stately home controlled by a powerful spellcaster, or perhaps this is where the Council of Elders meet to discuss important wordly matters, using their collective wisdom to try and guide the paths of generations yet to come.

However you choose to use it, we hope you enjoy the new map!

P.S. If you've never heard of Salt Plains (or Salt Pans/Flats) before, it's quite an interesting phenomenom! They occur exclusively in climates where the rate of water evaporation is faster than the rate of precipitation. The water evaporates on the surface of the ground, leaving behind a layer of minerals. They end up leaving a shining brilliant white pattern across huge expanses of desert!
