Wendigos are mythological creatures or spirits from First Nations and northern Native Americans. It's really kinda funny to see them reference it in a cartoon because even though sometimes different tribes would associate it with different things it was always portrayed as an evil cannibalistic supernatural entity. In fact in some of the cultures Wendigos were created when a human committed cannibalism. Though admittedly some of the more modern portrayals of Wendigos are from non indigenous portrayals where it is more seen as just more of a personification of evil. Funny enough I didn't know the stuff about the more modern portrayals until I was double checking my info on it, I knew the cannibal stuff as I have read some of First Nations mythology being my grandmother was First Nations.

2 fun facts about this episode: Young Donald is voiced by the voice actress that did the triplets in the original show. Also, as a subtle foreshadowing to the Wendigo reveal, the creature is actually saying "When'd he go?"
