Hey everyone!  How do you like Lylas ahegao face?  Or are you just as confused as Sock is?

I wanted to update you on the status of the next update as well give some news.  As of right now, I'm still working through the tasks to get the store working mechanics completed.  I was hoping to be farther along on development by this date but it's taking longer than I anticipated.  Unforeseen events have slowed me down but it's still moving along.

The mechanics for Lyla working in the store are going to be different then other games, since her working there will be prevalent to the story and one of the primary places outside of the main story for Lyla to earn her keep and make a little bit of money, I wanted to develop something a little more entertaining but won't be annoying from the player stand point to grind out over and over and over.  The gameplay is going to be pretty simple when her shift starts.  You'll take control of Sock when Lyla is working.  At this present moment, I've broken the Pawnshop out into 6 different sectors that Lyla can show up and do some task.  This will be automatically determined.  As you advance time through the shift, she'll move to different locations in the store doing other tasks.

With this script setup, I'm creating a random customer NPC that can show up in any portion of the store (shopping) so as the player advances time through the shift customers will show up and move around the store as well.  Everything I just explained is going to be automated or outside of the players control since they are now in control of Sock at this time.  The player will have the choice at various points of the shift to interfere with whatever Lyla is doing, if she's helping a customer or stocking some of the shelves, Sock can do something to embarrass her or help.  Where Lyla can make more money during the shifts will be based on tips, and however Sock helps or interferes with what she's doing will give the customer a different experience which they may or may not like and will tip accordingly if at all.

This is just going to be the first of many jobs that Lyla can do and there will be a lot of growth to these as Lyla is more ready to do more embarrassing things.  I've already written most of the dialogue and scenes but I still need to finish figuring out the code portion of this.  I wrote an outline down for my logic but need to work out more of the bugs.  As of right now it's still not in a position to send out as a preview or anything.

Now for the news and something most of you might not be happy about.  I'm going on a trip out of country to see family for the next few weeks and won't be back until the 7th of January.  During this time I'll have very limited access to the net or technology for that matter and won't be able to work much on the game.  I have an incredibly long flight (24hours) and am planning on doing a lot of writing, planning and concept work for Lylas Curse for new content during that time but won't have access to do any actual coding of developing release worthy sprites.  I hope those of you following the development and are eagerly waiting new content can be a little more patient, I'll have to push what I had originally planned to send out around this time back until around the end of January.  I apologize for the delay and am incredibly grateful to everyone for still following my development and supporting me!  I leave for my flight tomorrow and will try to pop in on the Lylas Curse discord whenever I have a chance to connect to wifi and if possible, do simple patron posts while I'm out there.

P.S: If you haven't seen the animated gif showing some of the locations I was talking about in the post, see the attached file for a little more clarity.

Also, in case you're not aware, I created a Trello account for the Lylas Curse project which lists my tasks and what working on as well as an overall project roadmap in case you'd like to follow in more detail.
