Another January Update!? (Patreon)

[ A New Series Is Approaching! ]

What's this, another update!? Well, we’ve kept pretty quiet on our latest series so far, just showing little updates here and there so we thought we'd give you a full breakdown on the new series we’ve been cooking up for this month.

As of now we’ve just been calling it pepechan or peepochan (if you guys have a better title please feel free to help) the whole show came about when we were laughing at some greentext and then it dawned on us. A lot of these fit the slice of life format really well, and thus with a bit of tweaking our little socially awkward peepochan was born.

From a production standpoint this was a real fun project to work on. It was small scale, little shitposts, so seeing each one come to life was a vibe. The aesthetic overall as well was very fun to try and nail down. We knew going into this that we wanted to replicate the look that came from the post 2000’s slice of life wave and we landed most specifically on Azumanga Daioh.

Using this as our basis, it allowed us to make decisions in terms of art / background direction, with this episode featuring about 28/30 backgrounds one of our core focuses was being able to produce that many in the course of half a month without burning our background artist out.

[ Overall thoughts ] 

Honestly, I think this fits our MO as a studio quite well, with our last non Otachan related project being Discord Girls this seems to be following a certain trend we enjoy. That being taking very current internet shitpost humour and lifestyle (greentext, discord, YouTube) and forcing it to follow the tenants of traditional anime production. If we keep at it, dare I say…a studio identity could be forming? Who knows, I guess we just have to keep producing shows to see.

Well we still have season two on the backburner, so expect to see more of that come February and as always, we are constantly creating merch and other cool goodies. Currently we got our latest and greatest idea for DROP ONE, (The follow up to our PlayStation themed DROP ZERO) But id say the most important thing for me right now is to keep our production timeline nice and smooth so we can keep producing things on the same scale as pepechan / discord girls in a month timeframe. If we achieve that this year then we really have done something impressive haha!
