Hello,

Due to recent events, updates from this post and the majority of Grimdark content will no longer be shown on patreon.

Community members will still be able to access my Grimdark updates.

Consulter and Merchant members can access my Grimdark updates through this month's welcome pack folder and the reward link sent out this month.

Admirer members can access this information through their welcome pack.

Full explanation below:

Okay, so I would like to give a brief update to the community that mainly concerns the Grimdark fanbase.  Recently, I've received another round of DMCA's from the Angry Company (GW).  This happens roughly once a year but this time they really went for it.  They've now made a DMCA claim for every Grimdark post since I started patreon and that includes the private posts.  I've attached the complete list they are trying to get removed from patreon.  That means someone from the company pledged as a community member just so they can file a DMCA claim on private posts.

I'm not a lawyer but I'd really think there would be a violation for code of conduct for trying to DMCA private posts that would be categorized as fanart.  I wasn't even aware they could DMCA private posts until now.  By that logic, any patreon creator who has ever posted a drawing of a Space Marine privately can be DMCA'd.  That is a level of pettiness even I'm impressed by.  And the public posts are incredibly sanitized.  Believe me, I've checked.

As of the time of writing, I don't know how this will play out.  Patreon hasn't really give me a lot of details yet on how to proceed and their infrastructure has undergone a lot of changes over the past year, making it hard to navigate all their required legal steps.  And their response time has become a lot slower and the information they have provided so far is frankly unhelpful.  But the idea of having to remove around eighty posts is just ridiculous to me.  Most worrying of all, I don't know how much time I will even get to challenge all this.  If any community member knows how to backup 80 posts worth of work quickly, I'd like to hear it because there's no way I'm just losing all of that.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'm not sure if every post will need to be removed or only a subset yet.  What I am sure of is that I'm tired of this.  I'm tired of having to deal with a company that constantly harasses my creativity when I want nothing to do with them and have taken every precaution to stay away from their crosshairs and their vague threats of copyright infringement.  So regardless of what posts I might need to be removed, I'll be taking steps to change how I distribute and show the Grimdark content.  I'm not entirely sure how yet, but changes will have to be made for all the Grimdark stuff moving forward.  To be clear, I won't stop making Grimdark content because I am committed to making what the fans want but the methods of showcasing and distribution will need to change if patreon lets this sort of thing fly.

To the GW spies within the community, I commend you for your continual persistence in stifling creativity and the creators who elevated your setting, that is admirable in a stupid sort of way.  Just know it doesn't actually stop creators from making better content than you.

To the Fantasy and Sci Fi community members, I don't think you have anything to worry about.  I've never had a problem with your months.

It will be business as usual right now.  Poses and my take for Maugan Ra will be coming up next.
Fantasy poll will be coming up in a week.  Please have your suggestions in before then.  Thanks!

Just another example of the fucked up system putting its boot on the neck of the working man. It's disgusting. I could see if you were making exact copies of their models and pushing them on ppl that would be one thing. Your models are way more detailed and express the mini in your own style and flavor. When has (GW) ever put as much flair and attention to detail as you have? I'd say never. Yes, they make a good quality, although over priced, product.... but they're not in jeopardy of losing any money here. Fans have always been able to create their art and they shouldn't ever be harassed about it. I'd have a lot more respect for (GW) if they actually embraced us 3D printers and respected ALL of the artists who enjoy their content. Not just the ones who paint all the free minis they send them. You've got skills brother, keep on fighting the good fight, I've been in your corner ever since I got my 3d printer and I'll keep on keepin on as long as I am able.

Instead of sending their laywers, they should send their HR.
